DIFFERENT TYPES OF RANGES OF HIMALAYA

The northernmost range is called Himadri. It consists of loftiest peaks
with an average height of 6,000 meters. It contains all the
prominent peaks .It remains snowcovered throughout the year ,
resulting into the formation of glaciers and some perennial rivers.
It lies to the south of Himadri and forms the most rugged mountains system. The ranges are mainly composed of highly compressed altered rocks. Average height is between 3,700 to 4,500 meters.
Some famous ranges are the Pri Panjal range, dhaula range and
Mahabharat ranges. It has some famous valleys like kullu, kangra, kashmir. They are known as for
their hill stations.
The Sivalik Hills is a mountain range of the outer Himalayas also known as Manak Parbat in ancient times. Shivalik literally means 'tresses of Shiva’. This range is about 2,400 km (1,500 mi) long enclosing an area that starts almost from the Indus and ends close to the Brahmaputra, with a gap of about 90 kilometres (56 mi) between the Teesta and Raidak rivers in Assam.
The width of the Sivalik Hills varies from 10 to 50 km (6.2 to 31.1 mi), their
average elevation is 1,500 to 2,000 m (4,900 to 6,600 ft).
Other spelling variations used include Shivalik and Siwalik, originating from the Hindi and Nepali word shiwālik
parvat. Other names include Churia hills, Chure hills, and Margalla hills
