It’s that time of year again- the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season. The way in which we celebrate the holidays in our facilities with our residents is important because in some cases we are all the family they have to celebrate with during this season. So I asked each employee, do something special, be especially cheerful and share in the Spirit of the Holidays.

Last year we had a contest on Random Acts of Kindness where employees were rewarded for doing something special, providing a random act of kindness to our residents. The results were astounding as we surprised a CNA with a gift card who sang holiday songs to residents while providing care; we surprised a housekeeper with a gift card who made some special cultural treats for some residents of her native land; one of the activity departments raised money and collected donations to buy all the residents gifts in addition to the gifts the residents receive from the facility and the list goes on and on. It is heartwarming and brings to meaning for all of us the meaning of Share in the Holiday Spirit. I hope this year we can count on everyone Nurses, CNAs, Social Workers, Dietary staff, Housekeepers, Activity staff, Maintenance, Administration and Consultants to bring the holiday spirit in to our residents’ homes.

On behalf of all of us at Extended Care we wish you and your families the best of the holiday season and a happy, healthy and safe New Year. And a special thank you to those staff members that work the actual holidays- we know it is hard taking time away from your friends and family and we appreciate the sacrifice greatly.

Lemont Center bids farewell to Larry Torres. Larry was an 8 year employee at

the facility working in the Activity

department as an Aide. Larry’s number

one priority was making the residents

happy and looking out for their well being.

Larry always lended a hand where ever he

was needed. Larry’s goal was to put a smile

on everyone’s face he encountered.

Larry was presented with a quilt at a luncheon honoring him. Residents

traced their hands onto the quilt and we titled it “loving heart, caring

hands” .

Larry, Lemont Center wishes you all the best as you broaden your

horizons.

You will be missed by residents, families and staff.

Rehabilitation Center hosted a

memorial service with Vitas Hospice.

their Veteran’s with local VFW Post of

Beecher. Colors were presented and

Veteran’s enjoys great music, pizza and

special gifts donated by local Ladies

Auxiliary and a private donor.

Veteran’s Day! Munster Med-Inn hosted a Veteran’s Day community/facility open house to salute to veterans. Post 802, from the local VFW Hall came and met with the residents and performed

a ceremony presenting arms in recognition of the veterans.

We had several vendors including Elite ambulance, Meals on Wheels, Harbor Light Hospice and Total

Home Health on hand to meet with the residents as well as the community people that came for the open house.

Lincolnshire Welcomes New ReceptionistMelissa Nelson

Lincolnshire is fortunate and very excited to welcome

our new Receptionist, Melissa Nelson. Melissa started

at Lincolnshire this past October. Prior to joining the

Lincolnshire team, Melissa was a Receptionist at our sister-

facility, Dyer Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Whether you are a resident, visitor, or

employee, it is a guarantee that you

will be greeted with Melissa’s friendly

personality and warm smile. We are

thrilled to have Melissa as part of the

team!

Lincolnshire’s Employee of the MonthKaley Morgan

Kaley Morgan is a Certified Nursing Aide that has certainly

set the bar high ever since joining the Lincolnshire team this

past August. Prior to joining the Lincolnshire team, Kaley

was studying for her Certified Nursing Aide examinations,

and her knowledge is evident. When Kaley isn’t working

at Lincolnshire, she is attending school to become a Nurse.

Kaley has continuously been observed to go above and

beyond, so winning Employee of the Month was well

deserved. Kaley is a diligent,

dedicated, and enthusiastic

Certified Nursing Aide, and we

certainly appreciate and value her.
