The purpose of this exercise is to help

residents and stakeholders describe,

discuss, and explore their values of this

community.

You will jot down your ideas in the circles on the left based on the following framework:

Past – What historic characteristics and elements of your community and neighborhood do you value? What cannot or should not change?

Example: Architecturally pleasing homes.

Present – What about your community or neighborhood do you currently value?

Example: Neighborhood schools.

Future – Thinking ahead, what are your core values, priorities, and goals for your community and neighborhood

Example: Improved housing conditions.

One Thesis – If you could change, improve, implement, or create one entity, what would it be?

“We must redefine the American dream so that it does not rest on the assumption that we can throw old places away and create new ones in the middle of nowhere.”
