Periods

A Grammar Lesson With Mr. Bono

What is a Period?

• A period is a full stop

• A period is a full breath for the reader

• A period is the ending of a sentence

• A period is the ending of piece of information

Why Use Periods?

• We use periods to allow the reader to take a full breath and continue reading

• We use periods to give the reader a chance to separate information in their brain

How to use Periods

• A period is used at the end of a sentence• It is placed beside the word on the left side

of it.• After you place a period, the next

sentence is put on the right side of the period. This new sentence will need to be one space away from the period

• A new sentence will always begin with a capital letter in the first word.

Classroom Task #1

• After looking at the picture in the next slide, come up with three sentences about it.

Classroom Task #2

• Alright, each of you have a word, and I need you to put your words together to make me a full sentence.

• Talk to the rest of your teammates to complete this task in the next five minutes.

• If some of you have two words that is fine, continue the task as normal.
