At GHP…You will meet kids from all over the

state of Georgia who share an interest in learning more about your favorite subjects.

At GHP…You will live in a dorm, with a

roommate, and have access to all facilities on the Valdosta State University campus.

At GHP…Your entire fee is paid by our

generous Legislature! The only cost to you and your family is spending money for tee shirts, extra food, and snacks.

GHP: The fields of study

You can only apply, interview, and study one area in GHP. •What is your favorite class? •What is your passion?•What do you spend your own time learning about and investigating, not because the teacher tells you to, but because you want to?

At GHP…You have chosen a specific area for

your main focus of study during the summer. It’s your major.

When you arrive at GHP, you will choose a second field of study (a minor). You do not decide your minor until you arrive.

GHP majors: Academics• Science

– Biology– Chemistry– Physics

• Social studies• Mathematics• Communicative arts (English)

GHP majors: AcademicWorld Languages:–Spanish–German–French–Latin

GHP majors: Fine Arts• Dance• Music: strings/double reeds• Music: music/jazz• Theatre• Theatre Design• Visual arts

GHP majors: Business/Career Tech

• Executive business management• Design: Commercial and Industrial

architectural design• Technology• Agriscience/biotechnology• Agriscience/environmental science

GHP: Who should apply?

GHP Candidates should:

• Possess a positive commitment to learning

• Exhibit enthusiastic interest and personal commitment to the program

• Demonstrate definite desire to study in-depth during the summer vacation

• Exhibit high level of critical and creative thinking

• Possess willingness to work independently and with groups

At GHP…A typical day looks like this:Major area – 4 hours (Mon – Sat)Lunch – 1 hourMinor area – 2 ½ hours (Mon – Fri)Dinner – 1 hourFun stuff – approx. 4 hours

At GHP…Every single day there are many

activities planned for the students to enjoy.

Examples: ultimate frisbee, orchestra performances, art exhibits, a lecture about fusion and fission, how to play poker, and more!

At GHP…A few things:-You may not arrive late or leave

early from the program.-You must commit to the entire 4

weeks of the program – you cannot miss any part of it for any reason.

At GHP…A few more things:-Your parents and family can visit any

weekend.-You must commit to the entire 4

weeks of the program – you cannot miss any part of it for any reason.

-You may not leave the college campus.

Now what??The biggest thing:

KEEP UP WITH THE DEADLINES AND DUE DATES!

Deadlines, due dates, and interview dates and times are not

extended for any reason.
