Economical aspects in wind farm development: Planning
Wind farm siting
• Access to site?
• Ports, roads
• Grid availability and grid code
• Local/ transmission grid
• Land leases (site and access to site)
• Special requirements
• Site conditions
• Terrain complexity
• Climatic conditions (e.g. icing)
• Wind conditions
• Site limitations
• Social (e.g. noise, shadow cast, recreational areas,
visibility ….)
• Environmental (protected areas, breeding birds,
reindeer …)
• Other limitations?

Summary
• ENERCON has a long track record in Scandinavia
• Good wind farm sites with little to medium complexity, careful planning important
• Climatic conditions have to be considered for planning, installation and operation
• Highly recommended to use Cold Climate packages and Rotor Blade Heating systems espeically from Mid-
to Northern Sweden
• With the Cold Climate Package, the technology of the turbines are adjusted to survive harsher weather.
