Ghent: approximately 8.500 extra houses will be needed in the next 10 years.

- to meet the existing need for housing

- to stop the city migration (young families, senior citizens)

- to encourage living in the city (sustainability)

Old Dockyards: approx. 1.500 extra houses (with garden or terrace, apartments, houseboats…)

Social housing (20%) + modest housing (20%) + free market housing (60%)

The Old Dockyards should become a full-fledged new part of the city, nearby the historical centre of Ghent.
