If you wish to stop fast action, shoot sev-eral flashes per second, or shoot severalthousands of flashes with one lamp . . aflashtube is the answer.A llashtube produces a brilliant flash ofblue-white light lasting from 1/2ooth ro1/1,oo0,000rh second, depending on theparticular lamp and power supply. Thebluish lighr makes excellent pictures onblack and white film as well as on daylighttype color materials.GE LOW VOLTAGE WAFER BASEFLASHTUBES, These lamps providemaximum eficieocy with lowest over-allcost for lightv/eight, battery operated port-able strobe units. The wafer base is de-sigoed to crimp into the reflector . . . pos-itioniog the lamp precisely and eliminatinga socket. They are ruggedly mounted tothe wafer base ar three points for addedstrength.GE LOW VOLTAGE PLUG-INFLASHTUBES. These lamps are prima-rily designed for professional units whereeasy ieplacement is required. They featurethe same high efficiency helixes as the waferbase lamps, but are mounted on a radiotype, four-pin base and have an externalglass cover.GE LOW VOLTAGE STUDIOF LASHTU BES. These lamps are prima-rily designed for sttrdio equipment. Theirlow voltage design, which permits a lowercost power supply, provides a moderatelyfast flash duration with plenty of light. Forexample, FT-3068 flashes up to 5OO watt-seconds and FT-506 up to looo watt-seconds.GE HIGH VOLTAGE STUDIOFLASHTUBES, For many years thesetubes have been the standard for studiostrobe units. They feature intense light ofvery short duration and the modeling light(inside the flashtube helix) allows exactpositioniog of lights prior to exposure.Akhough the appearance of these lampsjs similar. rhe FT-50J has a quartz helixwhich withstands higher energy loadings.

Discerning amateur and professional photographershave long preferred GE enlarging lamps becausetheir smoorh light distribution makes sharp, pro-fessional looking enlargements a matter-of-fact opera-tion. Vhen the enlarger is equippeci with a GE lampyou know you have the best possible distribution ofrhe right color light. . . v'hether you print black andwhite or color.
There r's a special General Electric lamp for everyenlarger. It makes no difi'erence whether ir is a verticalor horizontal enlarger. . . or wherher it has a con-denser, dilfusion, or combination lamphouse system.Certain GE enlarg:ng lamps are clear, others arewhite or inside frosted, and three are circular fluores-cent . two whire and one blue.

Everyone kno*s that projection lamps have rouncl bulbs... that is... they did har.e... until GE engineers brokew'ith tradition . . . to design a family of ilat facecl lamps . . .espccially for rhe large format 8mm system.THE PROBLEMInternal-reflector type . . . 4-pin lamps were preferred forthe new Smm projectors because of their provenelficiency. .. precision.. . and convenience features.
But . . . standard lamps of this type . . . did not adequatelyilluminate the larger picture area.l A larger reflector would correct this . . but it wouldalso increase the size of the lamp and housing . . . andadd more cost. . . weight . . . and inches to the projector.r Moving the reflector forward *'ithin the bulb wouldsolve the problem. . . but the round bulb walls prohibitrepositioning.o Shifting the lamp position forward would also work. bur the projector's shutter mechanisms pre\rentsthis alteration.
THE CREATIVE SOLUTIONDesigo a ne* glass bulb . . . with a round rear wallbut with a wide... flat... front face.
The reflecror may now be moved forward 7+" intothe fronr face area vvithout changing the size of thelamp or housing. . . or shifting the socket position. Theflat bulb surface is exactly the same distance from theshu, tter as is the round wall of a standard lamp.THESE PATENTED GE LAMPS PROVIDEo Smooth . . . edge to edge coveragelensesa 5ofo hi+het screen brightnesspicture afea... witha Low . . cool burning wattages

Substituting Higher Wottoge [ompsMotion picture aod slide projectors are designed to give best cooling and performance withlamps of specific wattage. The desigo wattage will be fouod on the name plate of every pro_jector. Higher wattage lamps may result in film damage, severe lamp distortioo, und "u"r,ossible damage to the projector's lenses and housing.
