Captains Logbook One hundred twenty-sixth entry: June 12, 2019
I appears we’ve turned the corner and crossed the equator. Summer finally be here! E’eryone that requested a ticket to Buffett that were fortunately enough to make the cut will see the shows that bind us all. If ye can’t get to the big shows, thar be plenty in the works all summer long. We already passed by one, and our home grown troubadours are in full swing with a bigger docket than ever. Expect lots of surprises and great things coming. Especially for Summer in Chicago…..reminds me of a Summer Chi.ill. Anyone just catch that for the first time? Get your tickets before they sell out! Until then….see you at the next event!
Billy Brehm, the Pirate King
Haul the sheet in as we ride on the wind, That our forefathers harnessed before us Hear the bells ring as the tight rigging sings, It's a son of a gun of a chorus
Where it all ends I can't fathom my friends, If I knew I might toss out my anchor So I cruise along always searchin' for songs, Not a lawyer a thief or a banker
But a son of a son, son of a son, Son of a son of a sailor Son of a gun, load the last ton, One step ahead of the jailer
I'm just a son of a son, son of a son, Son of a son of a sailor The sea's in my veins, my tradition remains, I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer

Please mark your calendars for September 21, 2019 for a club fundraiser to benefit Alzheimer’s Association. This fundraiser will take place at Firewater Saloon in Mount Greenwood. Details under the social section of this newsletter.
As of June we only have 15 members signed up for the walk (you don’t have to walk to raise money) and we are far from our goal of $10,000.00 with $2431.00 raised. We have two, actually three club members who are the top fundraiser in the Parrot Head Nation. They are Debbie Jordan, number one and Cheryl/Michael Kurupas/Schelonge at number two. Our club may have 15 members signed up but only 6 have raised any money. Please go to your page and make a personal donation. If you don’t make a personal donation why would anyone else?
It’s official; the Alzheimer’s Walk is Saturday , October 28, 2019. Our web page is up and running so sign up when you can. act.alz.org/go to/ChicagoParrotHeads If you need any help or support material, please contact me. It’s later in the year than usual, but we will be up for the challenge – great way to get the MOTM party started!!
“We are the people your parents warned us about” Meeting of the Minds starts October 31th
and runs to November 3
rd in Key West, FL. The Meeting of the Minds is the Parrot Head
convention held in Key West in late October each year. The convention consists of more Trop Rock music than you can hear, and meeting other Parrot Heads from all over the country. It is a fundraiser for local and national organizations as well. The only requirement to attend is to be a member in good standing of a recognized Parrot Head club. Registration is now open and of course, yours truly has already registered.
