The Annunciation This altarpiece was painted for the Convent of Santo Domenico in Fiesole, near Florence. The central panel shows the Archangel Gabriel’s Annunciation to Mary under a portico. On the left, Adam and Eve are being expelled from Paradise. The damnation and salvation of Humanity.

Fra Angelico, also known as Blessed Angelico, dedicated his work exclusively to religious subjects as he understood art to be an aspect of religious devotion. He was particularly meticulous in the details and qualities of Nature and of the objects and persons depicted. In his style, Fra Angelico merged the late Gothic Italian style with the new language of the Renaissance.

La Anunciación Retablo pintado para el convento de Santo Domingo en Fiesole, cerca de Florencia. La tabla central muestra bajo el pórtico la Anunciación del Arcángel Gabriel a María y, a su izquierda, la expulsión de Adán y Eva del Paraíso. La condenación y salvación del hombre.

Fra Angelico, también conocido como Beato Angelico, dedicó su obra exclusivamente a los temas religiosos pues entendía el arte como un aspecto de la devoción religiosa. Particularmente minucioso en los detalles y calidades de los objetos, naturaleza y personajes representados, Fra Angelico aúna en su estilo de la tradición tardogótica italiana con el nuevo lenguaje renacentista.
