The First People Inuit- are the First Peoples of the region
north of the tree line (where the climate is too cold for trees to grow) and in today’s Quebec and Labrador
The First People First Nations- are the First Peoples of the
rest of the land that is now Canada. There are many First Nations groups.
How Did Their Economies Work?
Depended on land and natural resources for survival; therefore, was basis of economy
Natural resources differed for each region
Strong Beliefs All First Nations and Inuit communities
thought that people were a part of the natural system They saw people and land as being “one” Resources seen as source of life- should
be used wisely Prayers and ceremonies showed respect
and gave thanks for resources
