December 24
Good News... Great Joy!
At all of our Christmas Eve services, we will be receiving altar rail offerings which will be used directly to assist families closely related to our congregation who need help with the basic necessities of life. Your generosity last year was simply amazing. In 2014, we have provided close to $16,500 in direct assistance – helping with rent, utilities, clothing, food and other basic needs for 21 families. Your gifts have made a difference in the lives of others!

The donation you give will make a significant difference in the life of another person you may never meet. This is the gift of Christ, to give freely and joyfully.
A card will be sent to the person you select. It will be a gift this season that won’t break, get old or broken. It is the gift of love.

Called to Serveby Jenni Thorn,
Director of Children’s Ministry
If you grew up in church, then chances are you have fond memories of at least one Sunday School teacher; the one who taught “forever,” who invested so much into the lives of the children he or she taught.
We are so fortunate to have amazing teachers in our children’s ministry at Jackson FUMC for both Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Some have been teaching for years, while others are just getting their feet wet. Many started by saying, “I’m not a teacher but I want to help.”
There are times, though, when “life happens” (job commitments, family, illnesses, etc.) and
our teachers reluctantly have to step down from their role for a while. Because of this, we currently have some opportunities for you to get plugged in with the Children’s Ministry Team.
Will You Help? The following short and long term opportunities available are:
• Kindergarten co-teacher - work with another teacher to prepare and present the Sunday School lesson each Sunday morning.
• Substitute teachers - We need a team of flexible people that can fill in wherever needed for that week, whether it is in the nursery, in Sunday School, Children’s Church, or on Wednesday nights.
• Children’s Ministry Welcoming Team- Help check families in on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights. Welcome visitors and help them find where they need to go.
• Puppets and Skit Actors - No experience required! Scripts will be available for you. It is not necessary that memorize your lines.
You might not be needed each week and it would only be for the length of the skit that particular day.
• Kingdom Kids Co-teacher - Kingdom Kids is our new Wednesday night programming for kids age 3 through 5th grade. As a co-teacher, you will work with another teacher to present the curriculum for each Wednesday night during the school year.
• Children’s Praise Team - If you are musically inclined, we are looking for people to come and lead praise and worship time on Sunday mornings during our large group gathering time prior to Sunday School.
If you are interested in joining the Children’s Ministry Team in one of these areas, please contact Jenni Thorn at jthorn@jacksonfumc.org.
