& Setting Up Your User Account

Open the App Store

Type “first consult” into the search box & choose the result from the dropdown menu.

Tap the “Get” option next to First Consult, and then tap the green “Install”

If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.

You now need to set up First Consult to use it on your device. Tap the “First Consult” icon to open the app.

When you enter First Consult, you will be asked to chose a login option. If you know your First Consult or Clinical Key user name because you have

previously set up an account, you may tap the first option. The next few slides will demonstrate what to do if you do not have an account yet.

Return to your iPad’s desktop, and open Safari or your preferred browser app).

Go to the MCW Libraries website:

mcw.edu/mcwlibraries.htm

Select All E-Resources

Then tap the “ClinicalKey” link on the alphabetical list. ClinicalKey is a sister product to First Consult, and is the easiest

way to set up an account that works for both resources.

If you are working from off-campus, you will be prompted to log on to the proxy server, using your MCW username and

password. (If you are on campus, you will skip this step.)

You will now enter the Clinical Key resource.

Tap the “Register” link in the upper right hand corner, and provide the requested information (using your MCW email address). When you are done, tap the “Register” button.

You should see the following screen after your successful registration.

Return to the First Consult app by double-tapping the “home” button on your iPad itself. Tap the image or the icon to re-enter

the app.

You can now tap the option for “I use First Consult and know my user name.”

Enter in the User Name and Password you just created in Clinical Key.

First Consult will now begin loading the content into the app. Once it is finished downloading the content,

you will be taken into the app!

Note: by default, the app will download new content automatically when a wi-fi connection is available. To change these settings, tap the little refresh

icon in the lower left corner.

Click on the Manage button in the top-right corner to see the date of the last update, manually get new

updates, and turn automatic updates on or off.

You have completed the installation for this app!
