Deadline for digital submission…

by February 6
Entries received after that will not be
eligible for February competition
FYI… the deadline is always the
Saturday before the
competition meeting.
February Meeting
We will continue our discussion of the fate of our
club. Many ideas were suggested at the last meet-
ing...too many to digest at one sitting. So we will
consider them one at a time until we have thor-
oughly explored as many as need be.
Within the next few days members will receive a copy of the ideas and suggestions from the last meeting to peruse before the meeting. Judging from the number of members who have re joined there is considerable interest in continuing the process. Do come and voice your opinions as we navigate through this uncertain time. At the end of the first hour we will of course have
our competition. The assignment this time was
chosen arbitrarily by me due to time restraints.
We will have a board meeting to choose the rest
of the year and announce the remainder of the
year at the February meeting.
See you there at 7pm February 11 at the Tracy
Gee Community Center, 3599 Westcenter Drive,
which is one block inside Beltway 8 between
Westpark and Richmond.
Awards Night
The Annual Awards Night was held Janu-
ary 28 at the Tracey Gee Community Cen-
ter. After refreshments, provided by mem-
bers of the Club, The End of the Year
awards were presented for Group A and B
in Monochrome, Nature and Pictorial cate-
gories.
The judge was Ross McEthron, Past presi-
dent of the Houston Camera Club.
The winners for these categories along
with the winning images can be found start-
ing on page 6 of this newsletter.
First place winners will also receive a print of their winning image donated by Philip Tan.
The Photographer of the Year Award was
presented to Julie Cheng for having the
highest competition average for 2015.

Assignments for February
Nature - Patterns/Textures: Photo-
graphs which depict any of the many pat-terns and textures found in nature. Spider webs, a turtle’s shell, the bark of a tree, are examples. The possibilities of subject mat-ter are almost endless.
Pictorial - Illustrative: Any factual photo-
graph which is non pictorial in treatment. Examples include photo-journalism, street scenes, industrial scenes, shop windows, garden flowers, domestic animals, sports action, theatre and scientific sub-jects. In fact, the choice is wider than for any other competition. Images depicting an activity are appro-priate here - people "doing things" although these may also be suitable for the People category.
