The Apprentice Led Ideas Challenge

Brief: Ideas from apprentices and trainees that improve their

learning activity or make being an apprentice/trainee better

Partnership: Jisc and the Association of Employment and Learning

Providers (AELP)

Eligibility: apprentices and trainees supported by a learning provider

or college

A team: 1-4 apprentices/trainees and a named member of staff from

a learning provider/college who will attend events

Funding: £20,000 to work with us to explore and potentially develop

the idea

Ideas supported: Target is two ideas

The Pilot Learner Led Ideas Challenge

Learner Led Ideas

All the competitions are for ideas led by

learner(s).

The ideas should come from the learner(s) and

they should play a major role in developing

solution

The role of the learning provider or college is to

facilitate, support and enable

These are NOT staff led projects/ideas with

learners working in them8

What we mean

What sort ideas are we looking for?Some ideas to get you started:

the use of mobile apps to support online learners to

work in groups, assist in planning learning online, and

get instant help or feedback problems

developing new tools within learning environment,

owned by learners rather than learning providers

technology that enables you to demonstrate online

skills to employers and support the development of the

digital skills of the FE workforce

What sort ideas are we looking for?Some ideas to get you started:

technologies or ideas for learning activities that are

more suitable to learners using assistive technologies

that would also be suitable for learners who are not

for models involving learners and employers developing

new and innovative approaches to curriculum design

that involves technology

using the advantages of learning technology to help

learners develop basic skills around maths and English

How to submit ideas

1. Register in the elevator web site

2. Create a short video pitch a post to

YouTube

3. Submit the YouTube link and

description of you idea to elevator,

await approval

4. Promote your idea and get people

to vote, target at least 50 votes

5. The ideas are selected, receive

funding to work with Jisc over the

summer to develop product idea12
