2018-Present Assistant Dean and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Implementation
Lead, Rackham Graduate School, University of Michigan.
Develop innovative strategies, initiatives, and activities to enhance DEI throughout the Rackham
Graduate School community, including:
Maintaining inclusive climates for diverse students, staff, and faculty within Rackham
and its affiliated programs.
Enhance the recruitment, admissions, hiring, mentoring, scholarship, and professional
development of diverse students, staff, and faculty.
Provide strategic vision, leadership, and guidance to meet the changing demands of a
highly intellectual and diverse student body.
Consult and collaborate with graduate program chairs, directors, and faculty to develop
and implement academic, programmatic, and DEI activities.
Achievements:
Established the Rackham Diversity Advisory Committee (RACDAC).
Led the drafting and implementation of the Year 3 Rackham DEI Strategic Plan.

Implement and manage all aspects of the U.S. Department of Education TRIO Student Support
Services (SSS) Program grant, including:
Recruit, retain and graduate low-income, first generation, and college students with
disabilities.
Manage U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant budget in excess of $1.1M.
Facilitate strategic planning, program development, evaluation, and federal reporting.
Collaborate with other campus offices and academic departments to ensure student
success, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Math, and English.

Initiative, which led to the creation of the WSU Office of Diversity, Inclusion and
Accessibility and the WSU Office of Multicultural Student Engagement.
Assisted in the founding of the Native American Student Organization (NASO) and the
establishment of the Native/Aboriginal Development Network (NDN) Learning
Community.
Awarded internal and external grants in excess of $600,000, from organizations such as
the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, DTE Energy Foundation, Ford Motor Company Fund and
Skillman Foundation.
Facilitated strategic planning during the Detroit Public Lighting Authority (PLA) board
retreat.
Appointed to various boards and committees, including SER Metro Detroit, Michigan
United, Center of Musical and Performing Arts Southwest (COMPAS), and the Cindy
Estrada Charity Fund.

(CHASS) clinic.
Established the annual Gala & Celebración fundraising dinner.
Created Latino/a Heritage Room (General Lectures 150) with funding support from the
UAW and the Ford Motor Company Fund.
Established the annual La Academia del Pueblo Latino/a Studies Research Conference.
Honored as an Example of ¡Excelencia! and a National Finalist in the Baccalaureate
Division for the annual ¡Excelencia! in Education competition in 2011.
Increased student first-to-second year retention from a low of 48.3% in 2004 to a high of
86.8% in 2010.
Increased student six-year graduation rates from a low of 7.5% for the 2006 cohort to a
high of 34.2% for the 2010 cohort.
Appointed to various boards and committees, including El Día del Niño/El Día del Libro
Planning Committee, Detroit Latino/a Agenda Education Committee, Hispanic Heritage
Foundation Scholarship Committee, NSHMBA-Detroit and the Vistas Nuevas Head Start
