Efficiency is at the core of everything
we do, stand for and promote
Our history ... from humble beginnings
Ergosystem began way back in 1997. Under the helm of Dean Armstrong, then Product Brand Manager at Anglo Dutch Office Furniture, the product was launched as the first 50mm demountable system on the market. Now, 16 years later, it is becoming the accepted norm in an environment where change is certain.
Still under stewardship of Dean Armstrong, the success of the product spawned an entire company in 2006, namely Ergosystem Walling Solutions (Pty) Ltd. More product innovation saw the launch of the slimmest demountable screen in South Africa at the time - the 23mm Horizon system.
The company then set out to broaden its product range with cutting edge, innovative products and finishes, concluding exclusive international licence agreements signed with 3form, Faram and Interlam.
In 2011, fuelled by growth and market demand, the company spins off two new specialist companies: Translucent Walling Solutions and Acoustic Walling Solutions under joint management with industry experts Guy Kenyon and John Hicks respectively.
Two years later, another industry leader, Dirk Durnez, is pulled into the fold, when Ergosystem acquires Cape Town based brands Kubik and Mofex in May 2013.
What makes us different?
Ergosystem has partners and distributors from 5 continents and through major city centres in South Africa.
Our solutions are researched and developed in conjunction with our international partners, bringing you practical, efficient solutions – not only for today's requirements, but also for tomorrow's trends.
Ergosystem operates in a design-orientated market and our integrity is such that we do not copy designs – we respect the intellectual property of others and do pay royalties where required for products manufactured in South Africa for African continent markets – bringing manufacture and employment to South Africa, with DTI endorsements of our agreements.
Design solutions
Our design solutions are purely industrial and supportive to Architectural and Interior solutions provided by others. We do not offer design services for the simple reason that we rely on the design fraternity for business and do not wish to compete with our own customers.

The prefix “ergo” is derived from the word “ergonomics” meaning people's
efficiency in their working environment. It is at the core of everything we do, stand for and
promote. We not only do this for our customers, but within our own
environment. Our efficiency is evident in our competence, capability, ability,
proficiency, expertise, skill and effectiveness.
Our products are designed, sourced and assembled in a way that makes
each and every solution personalised, yet addressing the form, function and
aesthetic requirement from both designer and client.

The Passion. The People. The Progress.8
We are a competitive, structured company with integrity and values, where quality and service are an essential and expected norm.
Why use Ergosystem? Because everything we tackle, is embraced with passion. The phrase “where there is a will, there is a way” is a way of life for the Ergosystem team and has resulted in our marketing slogan: You can do that.
We make mistakes – sure – but we learn from them. And, more importantly we put them right, every time.
To say we are customer centric is true and we enjoy a similar loyalty from our customers. We believe in building long term relationships with our customers, where we're seen as their walling solutions partner, regardless of the project they are working on – rather than chasing new business at the expense of existing business.
We don't believe that we are a small company operating in a Third World country. We KNOW we are a competitive, structured company with integrity and values, differentiating ourselves by adopting a First World mindset where quality and service are an essential and expected norm.

Behind all of our operations, there are support staff, the people in the pit lane. Ergosystem has an incredible support team, from debtors and creditors, to logistics and inventory.
Our administrative team, led by Richard Turnbull, has a thorough understanding of the importance of their respective roles in ensuring the success of the company as a whole.

The sound we hear in typical rooms is made up
of several parts: Direct sound, reflected sound
and ambient sound. Understanding how to
control this to optimise an environment’s acoustics
is Acoustic Walling Solutions’ domain. With a product range that can
resolve each sound related issue we are able to offer full
spectrum solutions to all environments.
Acoustic Walling Solutions (AWS) was formed and began operating in March 2011. It is 70% owned by Ergosystem and was established to take more specialist coustic products to market under a specialist company and individual.
John Hicks is a 30% shareholder and Managing Director of the company.
He has a collective 10 years experience in taking acoustic products to market and deals extensively with architects and acoustic engineers.AWS has 3 branded offerings aimed at different market segments: HUFCOR, Fabritrak and the WOVIN range (which include RIPPLE and WAVE wall).
Each product offers different design solutions in vertical and horizontal applications. These products resolve acoustic issues both in respect to transgression of sounds as well as the reverberation of sounds. Treatment of acoustics has many benefits within occupied spaces from a physiological, physical and environmental point of view.
AWS markets include:
Commercial – hotels, conference centres, cinemas, office training rooms & boardrooms;
Hospitality – hotel rooms, restaurants, open spaces like entrance lobbies;
Retail – shopping centres, restaurants;
Domestic – home cinemas;
Other – places of worship, community centres, hospitals.
20
Know the difference between echoes and reverb.(1) appropriate reverb is desirable, but echoes are almost always undesirable(2) reverb should be controlled and/or adjusted, but echoes should be prevented or eliminated; (3) acoustical treatments for reverb control and echo prevention usually call for sound absorbing materials, but the method of treatment (quantity or location of materials) is different.
sound21
Wovin Wall is ideal for eliminating disturbing sound reflection from voices. It efficiently reduces the reverberation time (sound "bouncing around") in a room whether it be in a lobby area, corridor, cafeteria, restaurant, office or auditorium. Wovin Wall works by cutting down on the harsh echoes and empty ringing sounds coming from the walls, which will help quiet a busy area, enhance speech entiligibility and make it more tolerable for everyone. Exclusively available in South Africa from Acoustic Walling Solutions, this modular system can be extended in any direction and custom sized to suit most spaces.
The Wovin Wall® and Wave Wall™ ranges provide acoustic design solutions for interior walls and ceilings unlike any other product: elegant, lightweight and decorative, it is easy to install and can be fixed to most walls or ceilings.
For those spaces which change frequently (such as exhibition and retail spaces), the modular nature of the Wovin Wall® range is the perfect medium to reflect new colour schemes, product launches or seasonal changes. Both ranges are available in a wide variety of standard finishes such as wood veneer, polypropylene, laminate and aluminium.

Ripple (part of the range) uses Wave Wall™a dual curved tile system to create a sense of depth in a smaller scale tile. A glimpse of the shadow tile in either a fabric upholstered or polypropylene finish, peeking through the contrasting textures of the Ripple Tiles give the system a beautiful effect.
Wave Wall, as its name suggests, is an organic undulating wave of elegantly long, beautiful tile finishes, available in either a continuous or alternating pattern.
Noise and sound gets trapped behind the Wovin Wall tiles and cannot escape to bounce repeatedly around the room. Incorporating backlighting into the design makes for a striking effect.
Enhance any interior fit out
both aesthetically and acoustically
22
Another ingenious product, exclusively available in South Africa through Acoustic Walling Solutions, is Fabritrak®.
The Fabritrak® system is a compilation of unique patented products that provide a method for using fabric as an architectural finish. Designed specifically to reduce hertz levels (noise) and offer speech clarity, it is widely used in performing arts centres, studios, theatres, religious buildings, A Grade office spaces, call centres and lobbies.
It can be applied over virtually any substrate, making it ideal for retrofit and refurbishing projects. The system is constructed and installed on site insuring precise alignment of panels and exact fit to other architectural details (like archways, ceilings, columns and doors) to form the framework into which the infill material is applied. The infill choice is directly determined by the panel’s function - whether acoustical performance, tackable surface or strictly aesthetics.
Fabric is the last component of the Fabritrak® system. Once the track and infill are installed, the fabric is stretched taut and inserted into the retaining cavities. The track is available in 3 profiles: radius, bevel and square from 9mm to 50mm in depth.
Acoustic Walling Solutions works with its dealers, architects, acoustic engineers and designers to ensure that each project meets their goals for acoustical control and visual quality to ensure the client's total satisfaction.

In 2011, Ergosystem Walling Solutions also
established Translucent Walling Solutions.
Its shareholding structure is the same as that of AWS, in which
Ergosystem owns 70% and Guy Kenyon the remaining 30% of the shares.
Guy Kenyon is the Managing Director and has in excess of 13 years collective experience in the glass fittings and assembly market.
There are two brands available exclusively through Translucent. The first is the FARAM range of products, with the P650 system being manufactured under licence locally while the remaining products are available by full import basis.
The second brand is Kaynemaile, a polycarbonate
linked ring product that is continually expanding its market share by new innovative uses that are being developed by our clients around the world. It can be used both internally and externally, as a visual barrier, balustrading, security barrier, shading component, lighting component and, well, you let us know.

Translucent Elegance
Translucent Walling Solutions - an Ergosystem Group company - offers brand backed specialist frameless assemblies and services. These include internal sliding and pivoting requirements, folding stacking systems, balustrades, as well as shower and toilet cubicles. Applications extend across the full spectrum: hospitality, retail, commercial, corporate and even top-end residential.
The P650 system from FARAM is one of the solutions managing director, Guy Kenyon is very happy to have in his arsenal. “The system was developed to compensate for both floor and ceiling unevenness and deflection. The top telescopic profile and the bottom levelling foot incorporated into the aluminium track gives the system vertical flexibility which allows it to accommodate up to two and a half centimetres of unevenness in any place, while guaranteeing the traditional features of transparency and brightness of single-glazed partitions. This system perfectly adapts to any type of working environment: executive and open plan offices, and meeting rooms.”
A patented transparent extruded polycarbonate joint, placed between glass panels creates a sturdy, uninterrupted wall. A coextruded rigid/soft PVC gasket guarantees optimum acoustic sealing along the whole wall perimeter. Hinged or sliding transparent doors complete the system.
FARAM P650 - Detail of the top and bottom tracks which guarantee a vertical tolerance of up to 25mm.
new perspectives for modern working environments
Designers opting for quality, a long lifetime and outstanding design look for products offering optimum elegance and visible technology.
Whether for pivoting or sliding doors, glass partitions or wall cladding, single point fixings give every room an appearance that is second to none. The load bearing structures are reduced to a minimum, maximising the aesthetic effect produced by large areas of smooth, flat glass.
The MANET system shown above, enhances the elegant affect generated by glazed areas.
One of the most exciting products Translucent Walling Solutions has just brought to the South African market is the award winning Kaynemaile seamless polycarbonate mesh. It is lightweight and durable, easily installed and cleaned, can be manufactured to limitless width and length, and can be custom-coloured. These features make it ideal for a range of surface solutions such as spatial dividers, furniture, lighting, and ceiling panels etc.
In the office shown above, Spacemaile hanging screens were selected to provide a visual barrier between the main offices and meeting rooms. The floor to ceiling screen sits in front of curved partitions to soften and warm the appearance of glass. The hanging screen overcomes the ongoing issue of cleaning frosted glass.

We practise what we preach, and have affected many green and eco building principles.
Where possible, we source raw materials made from renewable material. Our production processes produce no harmful gasses and we constantly review the way we do things to see if it can be improved to minimise our carbon footprint.
Ergosystem is able to manage its post industrial waste effectively and we have a very positive and effective waste stream, resulting in the majority of our waste being recyclable.

HUFCOR operable partitions finished with digitally printed fabric
From a rugby suite, a training room or a corporate office - the Ergosystem Group has a walling (and even ceiling) solution for your next renovation project.
Ergosystem Walling Solutions pioneered demountable partition solutions in this country and over the years have added a range of decorative finishes to its product offering: Interlam - routered MDF board, 3-form resin based panels and Mirroflex decorated thermoplastic panels, to name a few.
Under two new group companies, Translucent Walling Solutions and Acoustic Walling solutions, Ergosystem is able to provide specialist products and expertise to address acoustic and glass requirements.
John Hicks from Acoustic Walling Solutions says “Improving the sound quality or reducing noise should be an important consideration when renovating. With flexible products like Wovin and Fabritrak, this can be achieved in a way that is not only effective, but enhances the appearance of the space. Even a more traditional product like HUFCOR operable partitions can add visual appeal to an interior with bold graphics.”

One of the most flexible cladding products available from Ergosystem Flexible Walling Solutions is Mirroflex - decorated thermoplastic panels that are 3-dimensioned by a proprietary process. Mirroflex is flexible enough to be rolled, yet completely rigid when laminated. Mirroflex NuMetal is a collection of HPL’s (High Pressure Laminates) with a real metal surface and phenolic paper backing. NuMetal sheets are available in Aluminum, Copper or Real Stainless Steel; featuring embossing, hand painting techniques, etching, and other innovative techniques to enhance the look of metals.
Mirroflex panels are available in modular sizes and are suitable for walls, wainscoting, ceilings, backsplashes, display fixtures (as shown above) and many other interior design applications. They are UV stable, durable and scratch resistant.
