Aerospace Workforce Snapshot

The Future Problem• Aircraft maintenance workforce is not

sustainable based on current demographics• Boeing forecasts a requirement globally for

609,000 maintenance technicians through 2034

• The demand is greater than the supply!

The Training Gap• Composites require new skills to repair and

maintain• Deficient mechanical and troubleshooting

skills • More robust IT capabilities for monitoring,

diagnostics and repairs

Potential Solutions• Partnerships with industry and academia• Encourage and foster diversity• Increase awareness in the younger generation• Change the mindset of current workforce • Include aircraft maintenance knowledge as a

core requirement in aviation degrees
