ENGLISH IDIOMS

Idioms are phrases people use in everyday language which do not

make sense literally, but we understand what they mean.

A favourite, a particular preference, or a loved one; the object of somebody's

affections.

To work long hours without rest.

To keep quiet and don’t speak.

A person who spends much time sitting or lying down, usually watching television.

To do something in the easiest or cheapest

way by skipping

something important.

To make someone

very angry or

very bored.

An obvious truth that is either being ignored or going unaddressed.

To feel very

happy and

excited.

To have a type of life in which you are often involved in exciting or dangerous activities.

Someone who

behaves strangely.

To make a loud noise by shouting, clapping or singing.

A helpless or easy target or victim.

Not to take sides in a dispute; not to make a clear choice between two

possibilities.
