What will I study in EE? What will I study in EE?

• Freshman/Sophomore year - basic math, physics, engineering design and programming classes + a 1st Year seminar class (digital music, ham radio, etc.)

• Sophomore/Junior year - electrical engineering “core” courses/labs that give all EE’s a broad background in all aspects of the electrical engineering field

• Junior/Senior year - specialization in 1 or more sub-areas of electrical engineering with a culminating final senior design project in the area of your choice

• Faculty: 45

• Undergrad students (officially in EE): 525

• Typical EE Class Sizes:– Required EE core courses: 50-70

– Lab courses: 20-25

– EE Elective courses: 30-50

• BS Degrees granted per year: 200

• Graduation Rate (once in major): 85%

• Average Starting Salary: $52,000 (2nd highest major next to Chemical Engineering – source: JobWeb online)

LionSatLocal Ionosphere Satellite•Students compete with other schools to develop a small satellite that will be launched from a future space shuttleflight

Challenge X•Hybrid Electric Vehicle

EPICS•Engineering Projects in Community Service

What non-class educational opportunities are available to EE students at PSU?

What non-class educational opportunities are available to EE students at PSU?

Co-operative Education (co-op)• Students alternate periods of school and

engineering-based work to get great hands-on industrial experience

• The co-op experience earns credit and is paid
