The Opera House

The original building was built in 1869 to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal. Designed by Italian architects, the opera house was completed in six months. A little over a century later, in 1971, the great Royal Opera House was completely destroyed by a fire. The Opera house was rebuilt in 1988.

The Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum houses the world’s largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities, originally built in 1835. The museum had been moved several times till finally located in the heart of Cairo in 1902.
