HOW HAS TECHNOLOGY

IMPACTED TEACHER

RESPONSIBILITY

Educational

technology offers

increased learning

opportunities and

increased levels of

responsibility. Specific

teacher

responsibilities with

concrete strategies

are addressed taking

these two truths into

consideration.

DESCRIPTION

Appropriate

instructional

methodology

Monitoring

student use

Developing

personalized

learning for

their students

EDTECH LEARNING OPPORTUNIT IES INTO CLASSROOM =

INCREASED LEVEL TEACHER RESPONSIBIL IT Y FOR

EFFIC IENT USE

Four core areas of teacher responsibility

1. How do I learn to use educational technology efficiently?

2. How can educational technology impact my instructional

methodology?

3. How can I supervise a classroom of students to ensure

appropriate use of educational technology?

4. How can I diversify / personalize the use of educational

technology to ensure each student gains from it’s use ?

CRITICAL QUESTIONS

What questions do I need to ask in order to ensure I am using educational technology efficiently? (Student participation; student performance; student attitudes; etc)

What are my considerations when selecting ET tools? (What tools are available? Which tools will be best for my purpose / students? Etc)

Do I have easy access and information about best tools?

What do I need to know that I don’t know about edtech to ensure efficiency?

HOW DO I LEARN TO USE EDUCATIONAL

TECHNOLOGY EFFICIENTLY?

What does my instructional

methodology look like?

What pieces of my instruction are good

matches for educational technology?

How do I use these tools as

enhancements to learning instead of

barriers?

HOW CAN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

IMPACT MY INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY?

How do I make sure the students are on task?

How do I structure the lesson/activity so the students understand and can achieve expectations regarding behavior when using educational technology? (What are my expectations regarding student behavior/participation when using technology?)

What are my responsibilities when the technology doesn’t work?

HOW CAN I SUPERVISE A CLASSROOM OF

STUDENTS TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE USE OF

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY?

HOW CAN I DIVERSIFY / PERSONALIZE THE USE OF

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY TO ENSURE EACH

STUDENT GAINS FROM IT’S USE?

How can I identify

individual student strengths

and needs academically

and in terms of using

technology?

How do I match student

learning strengths and

needs with specific

technology tools?

First-- Identify instructional goals/objectives before

looking at technology

HAVE A PLAN

Look closely at individual students: learning styles,

personalities, academic strengths and weaknesses and

interests

Carefully plan your objective/purpose of using technology in

the classroom ~ is it to stimulate interest; expand curriculum

content; provide alternative instruction, etc?

Match the appropriate technology with your academic

objectives
