Eastside Symphony is a community orchestra offering classical music presented in an informal and accessible way since 1989. Our volunteer members come from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of musical experience, but all devote themselves to performing their best. Friendships and artistic skills flourish in a comfortable atmosphere under the guidance of a respected professional conductor.

Our music director, Alexei Girsh, came to Red-mond from Russia, where he was born and edu-cated, attaining his Bachelor’s Degree at Glinka

Conservatory in Novosibirsk and Master’s Degree– Conductor of Symphony and Opera–from the Mussorgsky Conservatory in Ekaterinburg. He was highly acclaimed as

principal conductor of the Radio-Television Symphony of Vladivostok, Music Director of the St. Petersburg Youth Symphony, and a professor at the Institute of the Arts in St. Petersburg. He is also Music Director of the Renton Youth Symphony orchestra. In 2000 he was honored with the City of Redmond’s Patron of the Arts Award.

Currently, we have approximately 65 regular musicians and are always happy to welcome more where seats are available. We present public concerts four times a year at the Redmond Performing Arts Center and feature local professional musicians, gifted students, and our own Eastside Symphony members as soloists.
