Transcript of Dummy's guide

We recently learn to create apps using AppShed. ‘Apps’ is short for

applications. Once built, the apps can run on different devices and

platforms. Our apps worked by the user clicking on different parts of

the app interface.

We built an app to tell users about our school. Some of the things

that we included in our app were: pictures, a link to the school

website, contact details, and how to get to the school. We thought

that this information would be useful for our app’s audience.

We learnt this year and we used Python. Python is a computer program. We

learnt how to write languages to make a code. We then had to learn to save

our code before running it.

As part of out programming lessons we learnt about variables. Variables are

like a box as they store information which can be used in the computer

program.

I wrote a code that asks you how old you are, what’s your favourite food, and

more.

We looked at an online chatbot called Elbot. We then created a computer

program that would act a little bit like a chatbot. To do this we had to ask the user

to reply to our questions. We tell our computer program to expect some

information from the user by using the code input.

The different questions in our code were written as variables.

Hyperlink – A link from a hypertext document to another location,

activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image.

Program - A set of instructions, written to perform a given task with a

computer.

URL – Short for Uniform Resource Locator. An internet address which

begins with http or https.

Interactive – Responding to a user’s input.

Device – An object or machine that has been invented for a

particular purpose.

Computer Science - The study of computers, including both

hardware and software design.

Audience – The people who read the publication.

In python we learned to make a chat box, so it asked us some questions

about our lives. For an example, ‘How old are you’ then we had to write

how old we were. Before we used it, we had to save it then ‘Run’, so it

wouldn’t go wrong. After that we just played about with the chatbox

and learned new words. Such as,
