Configuring Wireless in Cisco WAP4410N

Default IP: 192.168.1.245Username/Password : admin

The following is the step by step procedure for Installing WAP4410N

Click Setup --> Basic Setup

1. Here you can view the hostname and other details , you can give a relevant hostname and device name accordingly.

2. Select Static ip ( incase you want to get Dynamic ip from your DHCP server you can select Automatic configuration, but setting static ip is highly recommended for any device you need to manage).

3. Keep a free ip in the subnet, subnet mask and gateway (pointing your modem/proxy server/firewall), primary dns and seconday dns.

4. Disable Ipv6.

Time Settings:

Time settings: Select Automatic, and keep IST.

Advanced: Pl do the settings as below

Wireless Settings:

Basic settings:

Select Wireless Network mode : B/G/N Mixed and channel : 6: 2.437 Ghz.

Set the SSID relevant to the customer place and enable it, keeping one ssid is enough.

Security:

1 Select Relevant SSID and keep security mode is WPA2-Personal (highly recomended) but however some older laptops doesn't support this technology we can go for WPA.

2. Keep the WPA algorithm AES/TKIP and keep a strong preshared key after discussing with admin.

Connection control:

1. If you need to do MAC binding for wireless clients you can enable local and give mac address of the allowed pc's.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup:

You can view the configuration that we made in this wizard.

VLAN & QoS:

1. Disable VLAN, if VLANs are required then plan accordingly to the local environment and set the settings like default vlan and vlan tag etc.

Wireless --> Advanced Settings:

Select the region where we belong for settings channel allocations as it differs country to country.For Asia the above settings enough.

AP Mode:

This setup allows us how we want our AP to work either as Access pont/ Repeater/ Bridge.

We need to select Access Point mode.

Administration -> Management:

1.Set username, password for accessing AP.2.Enable Web access features accordingly, you can have https access

3.Enable remote access for ssh if requred.

LOG:

We can set email alerts and syslog notification if required.

Diagnostics:

We can check the connectivity in this wizard by pinging other devices.

Status:

To check the AP's status we need to click the status wizard.
