DEVELOPMENTAL NECK MASSES

Pharyngeal pouches, Branchial arches The common sites of location of and Branchial clefts 2ND Branchial Cleft Cyst Thyroglossal duct cyst

BRANCHIAL CLEFT CYST

Most common type is type 2 . T1W MRI shows Mass m anterior to sternocleidomastoid,Lateral to carotid vessels and posterior to the submandibular gland. This is the classic location of the 2ND Branchial cleft cyst. T2w image shows marked hypointensity consistent with proteinaceous material or hemorrhage T1W contrast enhanced fat saturated image shows rim enhancement of the cyst

THYROGLOSSAL DUCT CYST

CT shows midline /paramedian mass ,cystic with MRI T1W show High SI due to proteinenhancing walls and hemorrhage

CYSTIC HYGROMA

USG - Multiseptated anechoic mass CT shows well defined hypodense mass with/without fluid-fluid levelsMRI shows TIW image shows well defined mass with heterogenous signal intensity fluid-fluid levels indicative ofhemorrhage

DERMOID CYST

USG:Hypoechoic mass with multiple echogenic foci CT Dermoid cyst -Cystic mass with well defined walls and hypoattenuating spherical nodules in the nondependent part of the cyst. The cyst lies inferior to the mylohyoid
