Demolition Demolition is the RAZING,
DESTROYING or WRECKING anybuilding or structure or any part there ofbyPRE-PLANNED andCONTROLLED methods
Demolition is the breaking-down ofbuildings and other structures.

OBJECTIVES
A new approach to demolition is the deconstructionof a building with the goal of minimizing the amount ofmaterials going to landfills.
This "green" approach is applied by removing thematerials by type material and segregating them forreuse or recycling.
With proper planning this approach has resulted in
landfill diversion rates that exceed 90% of an entirebuilding and its contents in some cases.

Planning
A structure to be demolished is close to others (e.g., inhighly congested downtown areas).
A contaminated structure requires special demolitiontechniques and material handling to avoid exacerbatingdangerous conditions.
A structure to be demolished has historic significance.
Portions of an existing facility must be kept in operationwhile demolition
Assets of high value are to be salvaged for sale or forreuse.
