con tiempo. Gracias

Personales/familiares. Otra opción seria a través

PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Fr. Pierre’s Christmas message:
Throughout Advent we have heard the prophets proclaim
the One who is to come as a child to lead us into the reign
of God. Isaiah put it beautifully: How beautiful upon the
mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, an-
nouncing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation.
This is Christmas, it’s all about hope, peace, love and happi-
ness. It’s about humility too. Think about it, God enters his-
tory as a baby—the most vulnerable a human can physically
be. Prior to commencing his ministry he spent time alone in
the solitude of the desert. The last visible image we have of
him was on the cross—the place where love met the ulti-
mate sacrifice. The vulnerability of a baby, the ruthlessness
of the desert and the powerlessness of someone on a cross
are all examples that strip an individual of vanities and illu-
sions, and give him the opportunity to see himself for who
he is. Christ’s sacrifice was not to strip his sinless self of
anything, but rather to reveal to us humility and love. Christ-
mas is drawing us into that humility and love. Bethlehem
symbolizes the harmony to which all of creation is called. To
work out our healing and draw us to himself, God sends a
part of his own heart to us. According to Saint Paul, God is
speaking to us through his Son. He weaves his Son into
Mary’s womb and entrust this fetal God to the world. A
world so messed up—our world. But don’t worry; the miracle
of Christmas is that Jesus comes to sit with us in whatever
these days bring. His presence means that the distance
between this world and the next is not so far away, God ca-
res for you.
With technology nowadays the entire world is just like a
neighborhood, a village. That is good, but could be better.
More than just a neighborhood, Christmas challenges us to
make of the world a brotherhood. The visual support of the
nativity scene: animals, a poor couple with a baby (Joseph
and Mary), a manger not a house, angels flying around,
three rich men (the magi), shepherds (humble people with-
out relevance in the eyes of the high society). What do you
learn from this melting-pot situation? Well, whether you are
rich, poor or in between, we are all homeless in some way,
just working our way back home. I mean the real home:
God. God in the person of Jesus is the only reason for this
special décor in the nativity scene. And it is important to
notice that God became flesh out of love for us. Freely he
chooses to save us without questioning our worthiness.
There is a love lesson here to learn tonight. Our Christian
service to others must be primarily motivated by a certain
duty of service. We must serve out of love regardless of the
receptivity or acknowledgment of others. We must serve
and fulfill our Christian duty simply because it is the right
thing to do and because it is what God wants of us. I am
telling you, our world desperately needs this peace and love
that Jesus brings tonight. When we subtract love from any
equation, from any situation, any location; the result is al-
ways pain on all sides.
- Continued next column-
That is why we need to bring love back into the equation.
Merry Christmas to all of you. Our Lady Queen of Peace..
pray for us!

Light from Light: An Experience of Taize Prayer –
Sunday, January 5th, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Each Epiphany we celebrate that the Light of Christ
is for all, as represented by the three wisemen from the
East who were the first gentiles to encounter Christ.
Light from Light, is a celebration of this Light that has
come for us all. This taize prayer experience originated
in France in 1940, to bring light & beauty to a world dark-
ened by violence & war. The prayer includes short sung
chants, scripture, intercessions, & silence. Candles are
lit to remind us that even if surrounded by darkness,
Christ’s love is a fire that never goes out.
