How did Vibha reach out ?

Vibha volunteers (Bangalore) went out to the affected areas along the Chennai coastal area to have a first hand assessment of the damage.

They provided reports/updates to Vibha’s Disaster Relief Team.

They worked towards providing relief in Kadalur where efforts were hampered as existing roads to the village had been washed away by the Tsunami.

Vibha volunteers (Chennai) worked with AID-India to coordinate relief efforts in Chennai.

Volunteer Involvement in Affected Areas

Short TermBased on the report from volunteers on site, $20,000.00 was disbursed to four grass root organizations towards emergency relief – medical supplies, food, clothing.

Devastation caused by Tsunami has been a major setback to our projects and their work which has taken years to achieve.

Vibha stands committed to help these affected projects to recover as quickly as possible and continue the efforts of helping underprivileged children.

Projects are being selected on a need based approach.

Long Term

Vibha’s Project Team has been receiving several requests for help. Brief outline of some of these requests –

Vidyarambam – reestablishing 16 teaching centers for 375 children, purchase of learning material, mobile toy library

Action for Child Labor – purchase of study material to be used in 25 villages

Fundraising Update

• Swung into action on the 27th of December and formed a Tsunami Disaster Relief team.

• Started an online donation campaign which has raised ~ $60k so far.

• Various Action centers like Austin , Atlanta , MN and Bay Area held Fundraising events.

• Total Money raised so far ~ $80K
