crosswalks at all times.

entrances to help us avoid the congestion on the

children.

your child’s report with him or her, discussing what
they did well or the areas that might need
improvement. It is our goal to have all of our

NEWS FROM THE GYM PATROL REPORT
Patrols are on duty each day at:
Parents, please send your child to school when
patrols are on post and make sure your child comes
home immediately after dismissal so they can
cross with the patrols. For your child/children’s
safety, please remind them to obey the patrols at
all times. Thanks for your diligence.
As the cold weather continues, we ask our parent
community to refer to the weather channel to
watch for hazardous weather conditions. For the
safety of all our students, including our Patrol
Team, patrols will not be on duty in extreme
(hazardous) conditions as determined by
Environment Canada. (Colder than –30 with the
wind-chill). Please use the Winnipeg International
Airport weather. On those occasions, we ask for
the support of our community to assist students to
arrive at school safely.
Patrol Pride recipients for February were Parmela

Faraday School received a letter from Winnipeg Harvest recently regarding our participation in
“We Scare Hunger last October;
“Dear Friends of Winnipeg Harvest,
On behalf our entire team here at Winnipeg Harvest, we would like to thank you for your generous
donation in November 2017 of 201 pounds of food. We are very appreciative of your charitable
contribution, which will go a long way towards helping us reach our goal of reducing hunger within our
community.
Once, again, the team of Winnipeg Harvest would like to thank you for helping us fight hunger and
feed hope in Manitoba. Your donation makes a big difference and we appreciate your support”.
Thank you Social Justice Club for your organization!
On February 1st, Faraday School participated in WE.org “We Are Silent” program. Students chose to
remain silent part of the day in solidarity with those around the world who do not have a voice (child
labour, poverty, lack of education, child marriage, etc.).
On February 21st, several students from the Social Justice Club were able to attend “Everybody Has
the Right” at the National Museum of Human Rights. We learned about the unjust treatment of
Indigenous people in Canada and heard from students who are newcomers to Canada.

PARENT COUNCIL NEWS
Thank you to everyone for supporting our February Pizza Hot Lunch, and to the volunteers who
made it happen!
Changes to Lunch Program! Due to division policy, starting in September 2018, Faraday will be
returning to a fee-supported, parent run lunch program. The current free program offered by
the school will be discontinued after this June. See the registration form sent along with this
month’s newsletter for more details.
We’re hiring! As part of starting up the lunch program, we are looking to hire several Lunch
Supervisors to monitor the children, on either a regular or casual basis. We also need to hire a
Program Coordinator and a Bookkeeper. Contact the school office for application forms, which
are now available.
Jets’ Tickets! As our next fundraising effort, we’re raffling off a pair of Winnipeg Jets
Tickets to the March 20th LA Kings game. Raffle tickets are $2.00 each, and only 2500 are
available. The parent council will be selling tickets after school days at 3:30 in front of the
trophy case. For a full list of prizes and contest rules, come see us there, or contact us at

The school office receives many phone calls
from parents/guardians asking that their
child/children be given messages during the
school day regarding lunch and after school
plans.
Please ensure whenever possible that your child
knows when they leave for school in the morning
what their lunch and after school plans are, so
that learning is not interrupted by giving
messages to classrooms over the PA system
during the school day.
Thank you for your cooperation
