Patternmaking terms:

Pattern plot-the act of placing lines on a traced copy of the working pattern relating directly to the design features.

Pattern manipulation- the act of slashing and spreading orpivoting a pattern section to alter its original shape.

Design pattern- the finished pattern that contains all the features related to the design.

Pivotal point- the designated point on the pattern

Basic pattern- the original pattern set.•Bodice front and back•Skirt front and back•sleeve

Dart manipulation

Dart can be transferred to any location around the pattern’soutline from designated pivotal points without affectingthe size or fit of the garments.
