Art of Living conducts yoga workshop for NCC Cadets

JAMMU, July 24: Art ofLiving, Chapter Jammu conducted"yoga workshop" for enhancementof mental and physical skills forNCC Cadets at NCC Cadet CampNagrota.

Above 600 NCC cadets of dif-ferent age groups actively and

enthusiastically participated andgained the pros of this event. NCCofficers and teachers lend theirhand in support of the AOL teamand made this event a success.

Highlights of the yoga work-shop included yog asans, medita-tion, knowledge sharing, suryana-maskar, nadi shodhan, pranamyam,bhastrika and interactive sessionswith teachers and volunteers ofAOL.

Delair Singh, senior teacher andDTC of the Art of Living JammuChapter guided the shivir with thehelp of their volunteers namelyPriyanka Sharma, Rajat Sharma,Chetan Sharma and Kishore whohelped the teacher as well as thebudding cadets with asanas andboost their energy levels.

In the camp, the NCC Cadetswere also taught concentrationtechniques by way of meditationfor a relaxed and stress-free mind.They were also taught yoga andpranayam techniques for a betterphysical and mental health. Thechildren were also briefed about theknowledge points enunciated byspiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar,Padamvibhushan Awardee.

JAMMU, July 24: Theactivists of Jammu WestAssembly Movement (JWAM)today held protest demonstrationagainst PDD and PHE authoritiesand blocked New Plot- JanipurRoad for some time.

The JWAM workers led by itspresident Sunil Dimple assembledon the road at Rodian- Di- Chhapriand started protest demonstration.They alleged that there is massivepower curtailment, especially dur-ing the night hours and the con-cerned PDD staff did not pick upthe phone at the time of crisis.Even the Phones of Linemen to JEand AE, AEE, Executive Engineeretc remain non-responsive.

They also shouted slogansagain DyCM Dr Nirmal Singh,holding the portfolio of PDD andthe Chief Engineer PDD,M&REJammu. They demanded 50 MWTreceiving power station at Janipur.

The JWAM activists were alsocarrying empty buckets in theirhands during the protest. Theyshouted loud slogans against BJPMinisters from Jammu andMinister for PHE ShamChoudhary. They alleged that forthe last several weeks, the watersupply in most parts of JammuWest has been badly affected.There is no alternative tanker sup-ply by the PHE City Division and

the officers at the helm affairs areunable to tackle the problems.Worst affected is the Jammu CityWest and the rural belt.

Sunil Dimple alleged thatPHE and ERA authorities aredeliberately harassing the peopleand damaging old pipes, so thatpeople are forced to shift to thenew ERA pipes by paying Rs3500 as additional amount. Hesaid that Govt is getting water tar-iff from the public and they shouldshifted these connections free ofcost. He appealed to the people tolaunch a collective movement andagitation as the Govt was harass-ing deliberately. He alleged thatthe Govt has failed to provide freedrinking water to the public. Sugarof 45 lakh consumers has alsobeen stopped. Power supply isalso inadequate while fatty billsare being sent to the consumers.

SAMBA, July 24: Theactivists of Shiv Sena (BalThackery) held strong protest atSamba town and blocked NationalHighway for some time heretoday.

On the directions of the Statechief of party Dimpy Kohli andManish Sahni ( general secretary),the Shiv Sena activists led bySamba district president RameshGupta started protest rally anddemonstration against the Stateauthorities seeking withdrawal ofToll Tax at Lakhanpur and LowerMunda. They were carrying Senaflags and placards in hands.

Shiv Sainiks were shoutingslogans in support of theirdemands and also disrupted trafficmovement for some time on busyJammu- Pathankot NationalHighway. Later, the highway wascleared with the intervention oflocal police.

On the occasion, Shiv Senaactivists demanded that Govtmust stop charging Toll Tax atLakhanpur Check Post and alsoannounce special financial pack-age for business community inJammu & Kashmir which is suf-fering badly due to various rea-sons. They said that Governmentis sleeping and is not taking anyinterest in the demands whichpeople are raising on day todaybasis. They said that Governmentmust awake before it is too, late.

Shiv Sena activists cautionedthe Government to launch State

wide agitation if their demandswere not given attention by theGovernment within ten days.They said though GST has beenimplemented but still tax on petrolprices is 56% which should bereduced to 28% according to OneNation One Tax law. Petrol pricesmust be brought under the rangeof Rs 38-40 per liter.

The J&K is disturbed state andso the Income Tax rate shouldalso be reduced up to 50% thanother States.

Fukki recovered in Budgam,Baramulla: 2 held

SRINAGAR, July 24: Policetoday said that it recovered alarge quantity of Fukki inBudgam and Baramulla districtand detained two persons.

A police spokesman saidthat on a tip off, the police inter-cepted a truck bearing registra-tion number JK02AD-6027 atNambalhar village ofKremshore in Khansahaba areaof Budgam district. “On itschecking, police recovered 13bags of Fukki. Two persons whowere travelling in the vehiclewere taken into custody,” hesaid, adding that they have beenidentified as Nazir Ahmad Waniand Shakeel Ahmad Bhat.

67/17 under section 8/15 NDPSAct has been registered and fur-ther investigation has beentaken up,” the spokesman said,adding following a tip off,police raided a residential houseat Goshbugh at Pattan inBaramulla district and recov-ered huge quantity of Fukki. Meanwhile, police said thatit destroyed huge bhang cultiva-tion near Kachkoot village ofAwantipora in Pulwama district.“The locals of the area also par-ticipated in the drive. The localsof the area have appreciated thepolice drive,” the policespokesman added.

RAJOURI, July 24: Someunknown thieves barged into thehouse of a Government teacherand decamped with some goldornaments and cash in Kalakote

area last night. A police spokesman said that

the incident took place in thehouse of Master ShamsherSingh at village Jigni, underKalakote Police jurisdiction.The family was sleeping in theother room while the thievesbroke opened the door andentered the house. The familywas fast asleep and had keptdesert cooler on. Due to thenoise of cooler, the thieves tookadvantage, executed their bur-glary and decamped with 10Tola gold ornaments and Rs65,000 cash from their Almirah.

The family came to knowabout the matter only in themorning. They informed police.The neighbours also rushed totheir house after coming toknow about the matter. Thepolice examined the site of inci-dent and then started investiga-tion. A case was registered inthis connection.

Woman foundhanging with tree

UDHAMPUR, July 24: Inmysterious circumstances, thebody of a woman was found hang-ing with a tree in Kultyar area.

"A housewife identified asNishu Devi (20) wife of PawanKumar, resident of Kultyar, tehsiland district Udhampur, was foundhanged mysteriously on a tree,about 300 feet away from her in-laws's house", a police spokesmansaid.

He said that the body of thedeceased woman was shifted toPHC Panchari, where after com-pleting all medico-legal formali-ties it was handed over to her legalheirs for last rites. "A case in thisregard under section 174 CRPCwas registered at police stationPanchari and inquiry initiated", headded.

Woman dies dueto electric current

RAMBAN, July 24: A ladydied after coming in contact withlive wire in her house at villageBadli, falling under the jurisdic-tion of Dhramkund police station,a police official said.

The deceased has been identi-fied as Zahoora Begum, wife ofMohammad Abad, a resident ofvillage Badli.

The body of the deceased hasbeen handed over to family mem-bers for last rites after completinglegal formalities.

Dhramkund police had takencognizance in this regard.

7 gamblers arrestedExcelsior Correspondent

SRINAGAR, July 24: Policetoday said that it arrested sevengamblers and recovered stakemoney from three gamblingplaces in summer capital here.

A police spokesman said thatpolice raided a gambling placeand arrested three people whilegambling. “They were identifiedas Muzafar Ahmad, MohammadIqbal khan, Ashiq Hussain. Thestake money of Rupees 3100was recovered from the gam-bling site,” he said.

The spokesman said that inanother raid, police apprehendedtwo gamblers near Pinchimandiin Safa Kadal area in an openpublic place. “The stake moneyof Rupees 14000 was recoveredfrom the gambling place. Threeseparate cases have been regis-tered against these gamblers andfurther investigation is on,” headded.
