again experiencing a resurgence of activity following thecommodity downturn of recent years. A significant proportionof capital spending, project development, operationalexpansions, and metal value production in the SouthernAfrican mining industry take place in this region. The geologyand mineralogy of the ores are significantly different to thosein other major copper-producing regions of the world, oftenhaving very high grades as well as the presence of cobalt.Both mining and metallurgy present some unique challenges,not only in the technical arena, but also with respect tologistics and supply chain, human capital, communityengagement, and legislative issues.
