Learning Tools Project The Connected Classrooms Learning Tools (CCLT) Project objectives are to provide:
• A secure online workspace for staff and students with the ability to create, store, edit, reuse,
manage, view and deliver digital learning content from collections and repositories.
• Access to parents/caregivers to view their children’s reports online.
• An email service to school and TAFE students to replace the current UNISYS email service.
• Teaching School and TAFE staff the same email service as DET corporate staff by migrating
existing accounts from UNISYS to DET’s “in-house” email service.
• An adaptable and scalable system that will be able to deliver the latest Web 2.0 technologies
to staff and students.

Challenges & Achievements - 2008:• Network upgrades & Filtered Internet Browsing
•A total of 900 sites have had their network upgraded to 10 Mbps.•Filtered Internet Browsing has been brought “in-house”
• Student Email•Approximately 1.2 million school and TAFE students have been provided with and are now using a new email service, Google’s G-mail.
•An on-line website has been created providing teacher and student support material, for example, Frequently Asked Questions, Videos and “Comic-strip” style user guides. https://detwww.det.nsw.edu.au/it/learnsyssupport/index.htm

• Planning activities are underway for the:
• Next 400 “Phase III” school IC installations
• Network upgrades to complete1641 sites• Network upgrade contract negotiations for the remaining 800 sites
• VoIP implementation
• Procurement of VC core infrastructure.
• Procurement of desktop data collaboration software
• Trialling of Web 2.0 learning tools, Blogs & Wikis
• Procurement of online storage through an EOI procurement process.
• Development of an “Trialling/Evaluation Framework” for monitoring, reporting and
governing the delivery of program benefits.
