His-tory defines a hero.

SEN. Joker Arroyo has declared sena-tors are all guilty and must share the blame for the C-5 issue as the 2009 na-tional budget that authorized the fund-ing for the road project was approved bythe Senate four times.
Arroyo said the particular item appro-priating funds for extending the C-5 as atoll-free road drew no objection from sena-tors as the budget advanced through thelegislative mill.
On four occasions, the members of theSenate agreed to the P200-million inser-tion, Arroyo said.
He traced the paper trail of the bill fromthe approval by the Senate finance com-mittee to the Senates ratification of the bi-cameral conference committee report, which hammered out the bills final ver-sion before it was sent to President Ar-royo.
What bothers me is this: Did we allnot agree to the insertion of P200 million? All of us are guilty, Arroyo said in hisspeech sponsoring the resolution acquit-ting Villar of unethical conduct in obtain-ing funding for the C-5 Road project.

The poll watchdog also joined callsfor government officials to put in writ-ing their assurances that brownoutswill not disrupt the presidential polls.
PPCRV Chairman Henrietta deVilla said the fears of the poll beingdisrupted arose anew this week amidreports of the National Grid Corpo-ration of the Philippines (NGCP) hav-
ing low electric power reserves.Last January 25, parts of Metro
Manila and Calabarzon region hadexperienced rotating brownouts as theentire Luzon grid was placed underred alert by the NGCP after one of theirSual units encountered generationinsufficiency shortly after noon onMonday.
This developed as Comelec chair-man Jose Melo on Tuesday assuredthe public that the Precinct CountOptican Scan (PCOS) machines, theequipment that will be used to castand count the votes, are capable of
running even without an externalpower supply as each has its ownbattery for support.
He said the machines are not ex-pected to work until the late evening.
At 6 p.m. [voting, counting andcanvassing are] completed andshortly after that, its transmitted,Melo said.
The poll chairman also noted thatthere is no need to have another planin case of blackouts since the voting, canvassing and counting will notlast more than 11 hours beginning 7a.m. until 6 p.m.

IT'S official - "Avatar" is the new king ofthe world... or at least, the worldwide boxoffice.
On Monday, the James Cameron-directedfilm passed Cameron's own"Titanic" as the highest gross-ing film of all-time, taking in$1.859 billion globally - af-ter only 37 days in theaters.
"Titanic," released in1997, held the previousrecord with $1.843 billion.
"We are deeply gratifiedthat so many millions ofpeople around the globehave embraced 'Avatar,'"Twentieth Century Fox - the
studio behind the project --said in a statement on Tues-day. "Its success resultsfrom the efforts of literallythousands of people, who, over the course of several years, worked to bring James Cameron's vision of Pandora tolife. The themes of protecting the environ-ment, respecting life, and yearning for a peace-ful planet have united moviegoers worldwide. We're very proud of, and grateful to, JamesCameron, his amazing and dedicated team, and all the many people at Fox, who workedso long and so hard to achieve this milestone."
"Avatar," which won the Golden Globefor Best Picture, Drama earlier this month,
'Avatar' overtakes 'Titanic' for global box office recordhas been number one at the box office forsix straight weeks since its release on De-cember 18, 2009.
It also received a Best Picture nomina-tion at the Screen Actors Guild Awards
and is expected to do thesame when Oscar nomina-tions are annouced on Feb-ruary 2.
Fans of the film haveflocked to theaters since"Avatar's" release, especiallythe 3-D showings, whichhave brought in $1.35 billionof the film's total gross.
"I never thought I wouldlive to see the day when
'Titanic's' record would fall, but not even 12 years later, herewe are talking about it - andthanks to James Cameron, again," Access Hollywood's
Scott "Movie" Mantz said. However, Mantz did offer one caveat for
"Avatar's" stunning success."To be fair, you've got to look at the ticket
prices - these prices are so much more thanthey were for 'Titanic,' especially for the 3-Dmovies - and especially for a 3d movie in IMAX,"he added. "And it's not like 'Up In The Air' or'Spider-Man 3' made this much with a regular
ticket pirce, so when all the dust settles, it'sonly fair to have that in the back of your mind."

If we were to adhere to the schedule the Comelec announced,we will have some 2 days to walkthrough the source code, when an in-depth review of it would take 2-3 months, Akbayanparty-list Representative Walden Bello pointed out.
How effective can the evaluation of independent groupsand political parties be if were given such little time? Its al-most as if Comelec is deliberately hiding other glitches in thesoftware by limiting the time to review it.
The commission announced that they will invite interestedparties to view the software source code on February 2 and will
proceed with its installation into the PCOS machines on Febru-ary 4.Akbayan, along with other groups, have been asking to see
the source code for some time now. We wanted to have ampletime to go through it and ensure that our elections will not fallprey to hackers with political motivations, Bello added.

Our Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadOur Daily BreadAs a child, I learned to behave properly when adultsrewarded my good behavior and punished my bad be-havior. This worked pretty well because the reward or punishment generally came quickly after the behavior, making the relationship between the cause and effectunmistakable. When I became an adult, however, life got more complex, and the consequences of my actionswere not always immediate. When I behaved badlywithout getting in trouble for it, I began to think thatit didnt matter to God what I did.
Something similar happened to the children of Israel. When they disobeyed God and didnt sufferany bad consequences right away, they said, The Lordhas forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!
(Ezek. 9:9), indicating their belief that God had lostinterest in them and didnt care about their bad be-havior. But they were wrong. Weary of their way-wardness, God finally said, None of My words willbe delayed any longer; whatever I say will be ful- filled (12:28 niv).
When God delays discipline, its not due to indif- ference; its due to His very natureHe is graciousand slow to anger. Some see that as permission to sin,but God intends it to be an invitation to repent (Rom.2:4). Julie Ackerman Link
A Prayer: Lord, thank You for being slow toanger and filled with compassion. May I not
presume upon Your mercy by assuming that therewill be no consequences to my sin. Help me instead
to confess it. Amen.
The only way to make things right is to admityouve been wrong.
Buhay pa ang Rain or Shine.
niya.

king Manny Pacquiao hasstarted his training camp inthe US and one of his sched-ules include dissecting thefighting style of his March 13opponent Joshua Clottey.
Hesa very defensive fighter.
Trainer Freddie Roach saidPacquiao is now very techni-cal for this fight and the Fili-pino champ would not wantto take this match very lightly.
Clottey may not have thesame caliber as FloydMayweather Jr. but this doesnot mean the native of Ghanahas nothing up his sleeves todefeat Pacquiao.
In fact, Pacquiao himselfsaid hes not taking Clottey, who took over as the
Pacmans opponent aftertalks for a megabout withFloyd Jr., broke down, lightly.
Pacquiao has openedtraining camp last Friday, im-mersing himself into the tech-nical aspect of their prepa-rations by studying Clotteysprevious fights and givinginputs to Roach. He actuallysaw Clottey in action first-hand when he challengedthen champion Cotto in June2009.
