Colossians 1:3-12
3a We always thank God, the Father of ourLord Jesus Christ,
3b when we pray for you,
4a since we heard of your faith in ChristJesus
4b and of the love that you have for all thesaints,
5a because of the hope laid up for you inheaven.
5b-6aOf this you have heard before in theword of the truth, the gospel, which hascome to you,
6b as indeed in the whole world it is bearingfruit and growing--
6c as it also does among you, since the dayyou heard it
6d and understood the grace of God intruth,
7a just as you learned it from Epaphras ourbeloved fellow servant.
7b He is a faithful minister of Christ on yourbehalf
8 and has made known to us your love inthe Spirit.
9aAnd so, from the day we heard, we havenot ceased to pray for you, asking
9bthat you may be filled with theknowledge of his will in all spiritualwisdom and understanding,
10a so as to walk in a manner worthy of theLord, fully pleasing to him,
10b bearing fruit in every good work
10c and increasing in the knowledge of God.
11aMay you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might,
11b for all endurance and patience with joy,
12a giving thanks to the Father,
12b who has qualified you
12c to share in the inheritance of the saintsin light.

Notes
In thanksgiving and prayer, Paul brings up faith, love and hope then expands on the hope we have. Hope laid up inheaven is the ground for faith in Christ and love for the saints.
