will study to become an Astrophyics at
Arizona State University in the fall.
We were fortunate to see Clarence perform
in the character of Wynton last week in the
SHS One-Act Play, "The Royale."

next step in his education!

THREE SENIORS SIGN SCHOLARSHIPSStafford High seniors Dylan Smith, Noah Nelson and Alliyah
Williams signed their respective college athletic scholarships on
Wednesday.
Stafford High senior pitcher/outfielder Dylan Smith signed with
the University of Alabama to become the first SHS athlete to sign
with a Southeastern Conference (SEC) Baseball Program.
Stafford High senior defensive specialist/team captain Alliyah
Williams became the second member of the SHS Volleyball Team
to sign with a collegiate volleyball program. Williams will study
Biology and compete at Kentucky State, an NCAA Division II
university
Stafford High senior linebacker Noah Nelson played a key role in
the Spartans’ best season in school history – a Class 4A State
Quarterfinal appearance in 2016. He will study Computer Science
and continue his football career at Texas Lutheran University.
SHS BOYS SOCCER REACHES REGIONAL QUARTERFINALS
• THE STAFFORD HIGH BOYS SOCCER TEAM REACHED THE
REGIONAL SEMIFINALS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE
SEASONS. THE SPARTANS LOST TO CENTER, 2-0, AFTER A
SCORELESS FIRST HALF.
• OUR STAFFORD TEAM – WITH 12 SENIORS – WON THE
FIRST OUTRIGHT DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE
PROGRAM’S HISTORY AND ALSO WON BI-DISTRICT AND
AREA CHAMPIONSHIPS.
• WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON

THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY.

SMSD VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHTROBERT PEDRAZA
Robert Pedraza is a proud Stafford MSD Parent and District
Volunteer.
He's volunteered in the drop-off line at the Elementary School
during the mornings and currently volunteers with the District's
FFA Chapter.
...Pedraza, who grew up in the Stafford area, served as the
Stafford Elementary PTO President in 2013.
"My mom and dad did a lot of volunteer work, and I guess I picked
it up from them," Pedraza said.
STAFFORD ROBOTICS TEAM HEADED TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS NEXT WEEK
The Stafford High Robotics Team
accomplished another amazing feat!
The Team -- and their Robot (Spartan 5908)
are headed back to the FIRST ROBOTICS
World Championships, April 18-21 at the
George R. Brown Convention Center in
Houston after an excellent performance
(second place out of 40 teams) at a
Regional Competition this week.
This will be the team's second consecutive
trip to the World Championships!

SMSD PARTICIPATES IN SENATOR MILES’ INTERN & JOB FAIR AT HCC
Several Stafford High students attended State
Senator Borris’ Miles Intern & Job Fair at the HCC
Missouri City Campus on Wednesday. They were
joined by SMSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic,
SMSD Board President Auturo Jackson and several
District employees.
STAFFORD MIDDLE SCHOOL KICKSTART CHAMPIONS
Four Stafford Middle School Kickstart Kids students and their
Instructor competed at the 2018 PanAmerican Games in San Antonio
over the weekend.
There were competitors from all over the world. The Stafford
competitors won a total of 13 Gold Medals, 7 Silver, and 2 Bronze.
Master Rommel Gargoles also won the Overall Adult Black Belt Grand
Champion.

SUPER SENIOR 55+ BREAKFAST
Stafford Middle School was in the spotlight at the April edition of the Super Senior 55+ Breakfast on Friday. Stafford
Middle School Principal Ginny Gayle emphasized the campus’ core values – “Stafford Middle School values integrity and
embraces diversity.” Stafford Middle students from the Band and Spanish Club performed for the attendees.

SOCIAL MEDIA FOR SUPER 55+ -- A SUCCESS
Fourteen members of our Super Senior 55+ Group
stayed after breakfast to take a Social Media Training
class. They learned the basics of Facebook and
Twitter, and several signed up to follow Stafford MSD
on Facebook and Twitter.

THE STAFFORD HIGH SOFTBALL TEAM WILL VISIT SEALY
AT 6 P.M. TUESDAY. THURSDAY WAS SENIOR NIGHT FOR
THE LADY SPARTANS, WHO HAD A 17-10 LOSS TO
BELLVILLE.

STAFFORD BASEBALL SENIOR NIGHTThe Stafford High Baseball Team has
three games remaining on the
schedule – Tuesday at Sealy, Friday vs.
Needville (Senior Night) and April 24 at
Columbus. All varsity games begin at 7
p.m.

of improvement this season, and they
continue to work toward the goal of
reaching the postseason.
SHS/SMS TENNISThe Stafford High Tennis Team competed at the District 24-
5A Tournament in Bellville earlier this month.
Cassandra Andres and Jaden Tran are the 5A-24 Champions
in JV Mixed Doubles.
Kyla Calister and Zoe-Ann McKie placed 4th in the JV Girls’
Doubles division.
...Haley Young and Jon Percy Palustre placed 2nd in the JV
Mixed Doubles division.
Annie Dang and Sally Huang defeated two great Bellville
squads yesterday to finish second.
The Stafford Middle School Tennis Team enjoyed a victory
over West Brazos on Thursday.

SPARTAN SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Stafford High is starting a new initiative, the Spartan Scholarship Assistance
Program. Our intent is to help high school students submit scholarship
applications in a timely and professional manner....
The goal of this initiative is to ensure our students are being awarded the
maximum number of scholarship dollars.
We need the community’s support. We need volunteers who can donate a
minimum of two (2) hours each month.

Middle School! The new Stafford Middle
School will house grades 6 through 8.
The current campus was built in the
1980's, and it's time for a change!
