A quick guide on applying for college!

Transcript of College Advisory

1. Fill out an application to enroll in college – College typically inform you of all the

papers and forms needed to enroll. Walters State requires an Application for

Admission, Hepatitis B form, Immunization Enrollment Requirements, and a

request for transcripts.

2. Apply for financial aid – Everyone can apply for FAFSA and Walters State also

has a scholarship application to fill out if the extra money is needed.

3. Submit all the necessary test scores – All degree-seeking students under the age of

21 with a regular high school diploma must submit a valid ACT or SAT score

taken within the last 3 years. Students over 21 must take the COMPASS Exam if

he or she has not taken a transferable college-level English and math for

placement purposes.

4. Complete the New Student Orientation – ALL new students and transfer are

required to take the new student orientation before attending the campus.

5. Schedule an advising appointment – Degree-seeking students are required to meet

with an advisor before every semester prior to registration. Non-degree seeking

students are not required to do this, but need to bring college-transcripts or submit

appropriate test scores to take English or math. However, this is not necessary if

the student met with an advisor during orientation.

6. Register for classes – It is always recommended that students register early to

help make the scheduling process run more smoothly and be more flexible.

7. Pay tuition – Enrollment is not complete until all fees are paid. If fees are not

paid, the schedule will be deleted.
