What the grading bases are

• Letter Grades- the typical “A-F” grading scale that is done in most classes

• Mandatory CR/NC (credit/no credit)- required for your major, but you need to get a set number of points to get credit (no grade)

• Elective CR/NC- allows you to take classes that are normally given a letter grade, but on the CR/NC basis. It does not calculate into the GPA, and it is for classes that are not related to a major

• Audit- Allows a student to be registered for a class, but does not provide a grade or credit

You can sign up for Wait List classes, but are

not guaranteed a spot

Waitlist info

• You are waitlisted until the first day of instruction, and if you do not see it on your class list, then you have been dropped from the waitlist and have no priority over other students trying to add

• You need to go to that class on the first day and ask the professor if there are any spots left. If there are, you will receive an add code so you can add the class

Things to consider

• You can add classes to your shopping cart before your designated appointment time, but you cannot enroll in them until your appointment starts

• To take SJSU Studies courses (Areas R, S, V) you must sign up for and pass the Writing Skills Test (WST) and take 100W during, or before you take the course

Things to consider

• You can sign up for a maximum of 16 units per semester

• Advisors usually have the most up-to-date information, while the website could sometimes omit new requirements and information. Nothing beats an appointment with an advisor!
