AUDIO PROJECT – EXPORING & POSTING YOUR AUDIO PROJECT TO THE CLASS BLOGCOMM 106

AUDACITY-BASICSALWAYS plug headphones in before starting AUDACITYNEVER drag your work off your USB to the desktop/lab hard driveALWAYS click on the PROJECT file on your USB to open your work – that file’s icon should look like this

AUDACITY-LOOKING AHEAD

* At this point, you should have your narration, interview, and music tracks all edited, sequenced, and ready to export as your finished project – the next step is to export projects and post them on our blogs

* Remember your segment should be between 90 seconds and 2 minutes long

* COMPLETED AUDIO PROJECTS DUE ON BLOGS BY BEGINNING OF CLASS ON 4/3 – If you’re behind, take advantage of open lab hours and/or working at home!

TIPSoMake 100% certain your project is done and ready to go before exporting – LISTEN TO IT FULLY AND COMPLETELY!oBe certain it’s between 90 seconds and 2 minutes and that there is no “extra” music or sound clips mistakenly extending its lengthoObjectively ask yourself, “DOES THIS SOUND GOOD?”

AUDACITY-EXPORT AUDIO PROJECT

•Use FILE EXPORT AUDIO to export your audio project tracks from AUDACITY onto your USB

•This will open a window where you can save the exported audio to your USB

•Make sure you are exporting it to your USB drive and as an MP3 file

•Give it a distinctive name so you can easily find it again

•Click SAVE to export your project

•Next go to our class blog and log in (link found in Blackboard)

•Click on NEW + POST to start a new post

•Click on ADD MEDIA to add your MP3 audio project file from your USB

•Your MP3 audio project file will now appear as a player in your text field

•Add an appropriate headline in the title section (be sure to add *your last name* to the end so I can easily search for your specific post)

•Then add whatever text is necessary as well as at least one clickable link to a different website that supports your story

•Go to this very simple sample blog post to see these basics

•When you’re finished, click PUBLISH and CHECK YOUR WORK!!!

•HEADLINE:•Make it intriguing and interesting in reference to your story – do NOT call it “FINAL AUDIO PROJECT”!•Make sure *YOUR LAST NAME* is added to the end

•STORY:•You do NOT need to add a lot of text to blog post but you do need to describe/set-up what we’re about to listen to•Any text you do add will be graded on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting

•LINK:•You MUST add at least one working embeddable/clickable link to a different website that supports your story•An easy format is this, “For more information on *****, click here” and make that sentence a clickable link to the other story

•LISTEN TO THE AUDIO MULTIPLE PLACES!•RE-READ THE TEXT AND HEADLINE!•MAKE SURE THE LINK(S) YOU’VE SUPPLIED ACTUALLY WORK!

GRADING CRITERIA: Is your Audio Project…

◦ Consistent in sound volume and quality? (60% of grade)

◦ Between 90 seconds and 2 minutes long? (10% grade)

◦ Correctly posted on the blog with◦ AN EFFECTIVE HEADLINE INCLUDING *YOUR LAST NAME* AT THE END? (10% of grade)◦ NO SPELLING, GRAMMAR, PUNCTUATION OR FORMATTING ERRORS IN THE ACCOMPANYING TEXT?(10% of grade)◦ AT LEAST ONE WORKING EMBEDDABLE/CLICKABLE LINK TO A DIFFERENT WEBSITE THAT SUPPORTS

YOUR STORY?(10% of grade)

AUDIO PROJECT DUE COMPLETED AND POSTED ON BLOG BY 4/3 @ START OF CLASS
