BATTERBOARD
1. To estimate the lumber to be used as batterboard for lay-out, compute the lineal meter of the structure all around giving an allowance or margin of 1.00. Count also the number of stakes tobe used. Multiply the number of stakes by 1.2 (length of stake) and add the sum to the first linealmeter change to lineal foot. Then compute the board depending to the size of the lumber to be used as batterboard (2" x 2" or 2" x 3")
2.to get number of kilos. If by keg, divide the total board foot by factor 2500 equals keg of nails.
3. To estimate guide wire #12 to be used in layouting, divide the total boardfoot by 4000 to obtain roll of wire.
Note: The Drawing below is an illustration of layout showing the location of batterboard and stake.

EXCAVATION
1. To estimate the volume of excavation, compute the area to be excavated then multiply by thedepth. For cut and fill excavation, use the prismoidal formula
2
To estimate the nails to be used, divide the total boardfoot by 1000 then multiply by factor 15
A1 + A2 x depth or length = CU. MT.

BACKFILL
To estimate bacfilling or gravel bed multiply the width, the length and the depth or thickness (w x l x d)
If the backfilling will be compacted add 10% for compaction and 3% for waste.
CONCRETE
To estimate the volume or cubic meter of concrete, use same formula as of backfilling.
To obtain bag of cement, cu.m. of sand and cu.m. of gravel, determined the class of mixture or psirequired. Then cu.m. of concrete multiply by the given factor of mixture.

ALUMINUM TEE RUNNER1.
multiply no. of spread on the length and width.Example: the ceiling is 3.00 x 6.00
300 divide by 0.60 = 5 x 6.00 = 30.00
Total length 45.00 45 divide by 6.0 (commercial length of the runner) = 7.5 say 8 pieces at 20' or 6.00 length
2.
BASEBOARD1. To estimate boardfeet :
For 1 x : l.m. x 1.09 = boardfeetFor 1 x : l.m. x 1.37 = boardfeetFor 1 x : l.m. x 1.64 = boardfeet

roof framing.4. For nail : boardfeet divide by 2,500 equals keg. If by the kilo, divide the boardfeet by 1000 then
multiply by 6.8
PURLINS1. To estimate total boardfeet of purlins : make an actual counting of purlins as shown in the roof
framing plan and truss details, then compute the boardfeet according to the specified size and length of the lumber.

3. Another procedure : length of spread divide by .67 if the length is in meter and 27". If the length is in feet, then multiply by the number of lapping or row.
4. To obtain metal rivet:
For strap:
see the table of strap.5. To obtain gutter, ridge row, valley row and flushing:
6.7.8.
To estimate G.I sheet roofing by area, compute the area in the flat then add the pitch factor(the sum of 1 & 2 percentage) the total area is the slotted area of the roof.
pieces of G.I sheet x 0.073 = kilo of rivetpieces of G.I sheet x 0.146 = kilo of washer
pieces of G.I sheet x 12 or 9 = pieces of strap to convert this to pieces of plain G.I sheet
Length of spread or lineal meter divide by 2.25 = ridge roll, valley roll or flashing. For copper rivet: no. of joint multiply by 8 then divide by 50 = no. of box of copper rivet. For nikolite : length of foot divide by 24 = kiloFor muriatic acid : piece of nikolite x 10cc = total cc of muriatic
