• April 2009- Kaiser Health Tracking Poll: 6 in 10 Americans say that they or a member of their household have

delayed or skipped health care in the past year.

National Health Care

• Since 1999, employment-based health insurance premiums have increased 120 %, compared to cumulative inflation of 44%

• Health insurance expenses - fastest growing cost component for employers.

• Average out-of-pocket costs for employees for deductibles, co-payments for medications, and co-insurance for physician and hospital visits rose 115 % during the same period.

• Since 1999, health insurance premiums have increased 73. 9%, compared to national increase of 120%

• Employer-sponsors provide health insurance to the vast majority of workers and their families.

• Increasing costs in health insurance premiums pose challenges for employers

• Challenge -deciding how to continue to provide employee coverage.

• CDC recommends for adults at least:– 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes) of

moderate-intensity aerobic activity (i.e., brisk walking) every week and muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week that work all major muscle groups (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest,  shoulders, and arms).
