His biography• He was born the 5th

of July, 1940.• He is from Monroe,

Washington.• His parents were

artists.• Chuck was very good

at Art in the school.• He was a creative

boy.

• At the age of 14 Chuck saw an exhibition of

Jackson Pollack paintings.

• It had a great impact on Chuck and inspired him for being an artist.

• Chuck enrolled at the University of Washington.

• He also studied for a Master of Arts in Yale.

• He liked the abstract style.

• His favourite style was photo-realism.

• He created a style called “knitting” : large photos on canvases.

His technique

• His style is called “ photorealism”.• It represents a painting and a

photograph.• He uses a grid. • He enlarge the photograph.• Then he paints the differents squares

on the photograph with simbols such as triangles, circles, hearts, etc.

By the 1970s• His Art work was in

all the galleries of the world.

• He was considered one of the America’s best contemporary artists.

In 1988

• Chuck suffered a broken spinal artery .

• He was left almost entirely paralyzed.

• He is permanently in a wheelchair.

• But he continue to paint with a brush taped to his wrist.

In 2000 President Clinton gave to Chuck a National Medal of Arts.
