Transcript of China Wet Markets

The freshest meat and vegetables in China are to be found at the open air wet markets.

These are photos from some wet markets in ordinary Chinese towns. Put on some sturdy shoes and let's mai cai (buy veggies)!

Chinese Wet Markets

In Mandarin, the wet market is called a cai shi chang. This literally means vegetable market.

This fruit is called pipa. It peels easily and is a tangy fruit with a large brown seed in the center. We don’t have them in the United States.

These are mangosteens and lychee fruits.
