EGGLAND'S BEST EGGS DON'T INCREASE SERUM CHOLESTEROLClinical studies have shown that Eggland's Best eggs do notincrease serum cholesterol levels. In a study conducted at theMedical College of Pennsylvania (see J Nutr. 1992;122:2153-2160), subjects fed a low-fat diet that included 12 Eggland's Bestmodified eggs per week and subjects fed a low-fat diet thatexcluded whole eggs had similar reductions in serum cholesterol.Eggland's Best eggs provide 25% of the RDA for vitamin E and40% of the RDA for iodine; ordinary eggs provide about 2% and15%, respectively, of these nutrients. Eggland's Best hens are feda controlled diet enriched with rice bran, alfalfa meal, kelp, andvitamin E. No animal fat or animal by-products are used; the onlyadded fat is 94% canola oil.
