…cleaning up the dirt in style

Trash disposal is now one of those issues getting attention on the local and global scale

As it happens to be a critical evil which comes along side development and civilization, we have to find a means to manage this evil or better yet convert this evil into good.

Hence the need for a MULTI-FUNCTIONAL THRASH SYSTEM. What in the world does that even mean? Do well to find out in the following slides

Industrial Waste

Industrial waste is a type of waste produced by industrial activity, such as that of factories, mills and mines. Toxic waste, chemical waste, Industrial solid waste and Municipal solid waste are designations of industrial waste.

Domestic Waste

Domestic Waste also known as Municipal solid waste (MSW), or urban solid waste, is a waste type that includes predominantly household waste (domestic waste) with sometimes the addition of commercial wastes collected by a municipality within a given area.

The Community

The community holds a great deal of responsibility in the clean up process especially with the domestic waste i.e. the Municipal Solid Waste.

The Industry

The industry also holds a responsibility in the clean up process or waste management mechanism. Industrial waste is a significant proportion of total waste and if properly dealt with would go a long way in the cumulative degree of controlling waste.

.

The Government

The government serves as a regulatory body for industrial waste disposal.

Go back to the basics: RECYCLE

Recycling involves processing used materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, energy usage, air and water pollution. Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy.

Social ResponsibilitySocial responsibility is an ethical or ideological theory that

an entity whether it is a government, corporation, organization or individual has a responsibility to society at large.

What is the MFTS?

The Multi-Functional Trash System is an innovative solution to the issue of waste management which the IEDC gets to initiate. In abbreviation, the MFTS as the name implies brings a fusion in managing waste of different type – domestic or industrial with the need regulations and adjustments. The MFTS deals with the collection, processing as well as distribution of waste. These three phases if properly managed would sure bring the issue of waste disposal and management under control.

How does it work?

The system as mentioned deals with 3 phases – Collection, Distribution and Processing

Collection: This includes stations which are interactive. Keeping the public involved in the collection phase is really important and thus is addressed here as well.

Distribution: The collected wastes are sent to the stations, 90% to the city ones and 10% to the main national one by railways.

Processing: The wastes are separated into different groups respect to their kinds and different processes will be applied to each one.

When do we start?

So what’s the Entrepreneurial outlook of the MFTS? Industrial waste is one that if properly managed turns to profit the Industry. Raw materials would be readily available to firms internally as they can monitor how their wasted goes through the MFTS.

Job creation is also one entrepreneurial view of the MFTS. The phases involved get to attract lots of people to work. From the collection phase to processing phase – truck drivers to chemical engineers; blue collar to white collar and all between.

There is a need to have sustainable system. This is needed because there is a continuous release of waste both domestic and industrial to the environment. For a proper management of this waste there needs to be a sustainable system or mechanism on ground to see that all these waste go through the phases of the MFTS

Having seen the importance to keep the wheel of recycling in motion, there is need to address the “how”.

The key fact is to put all resources on the table and bring all stakeholders on deck – the community, the industry and the government.

There is need for social responsibility to be integrated in our culture – taught at school; mentioned at work trainings and other avenues available to the public with the use of media – TV, Ads, Bill board, and of course the internet

Awareness is really important and platforms should be made to make the public aware of dangers of bad waste management.

Another important area to examine the MTFS is the Technological integration or incorporation it brings. The system is one which embraces science and technology.

In summary the Multi-Functional Trash System is on that gets to address all the avenues of waste production across board – i.e. be it domestic or industrial. It also brings everyone to deck, ranging from the community (industry inclusive) to government.
