However when she narrated the whole story of how she was fooled by Lord Indra, Gautam rishi melted and said that though there was no immediate solution, Ahilya would be freed when Lord Rama will come and touch her feet in Tretayug. However Ahilya told him that it would be a very long wait for her then. Thus Gautam rishi used his immense powers to bring about a change that reduced Ahilya’s wait by about a million years.
