Movies on the Plazainvites UCF students towatch free films in an out-door environment duringthe weekends.
The event takes place onSaturday from 9 p.m. to 11p.m. in front of the UCFArena. This week’s film isTrue Grit, which is about aU.S. Marshall who helps agirl track down the personwho killed her father.
The event is open to allUCF students and is free ofcharge.
Financial Series hosts MoneyMatters event

Police say unrequited loveled to woman’s arrest
OCALA — A 92-year-old Florida woman is jailedafter police say she firedshots at a neighbor whorefused to give in to herdemands for a kiss.
Police say HelenStaudinger of Fort McCoywent next door Monday tovisit her neighbor, DwightBettner, 53, and grew angrywhen he wouldn't kiss her.
She then allegedly firedfour rounds into Bettner'shouse from a semiautomat-ic pistol, shattering a win-dow. No one was hurt.
Fla.Gov.Scott orders stateemployee drug testing
TALLAHASSEE —Florida Gov. Rick Scottordered drug testing Tues-day of new hires and spotchecks of existing stateemployees under him, butcivil rights and labor lawyersquestioned whether thedirective was legal.
Scott issued an executiveorder requiring each of hisagencies to amend its drugtesting policy within 60 daysto require pre-employmentscreenings of all job appli-cants and random testing ofthe existing work force.

ning mate Fernando Gon-zales kicked off the debateby discussing their sevenkey platforms, the first ofwhich being a focus on theimprovement academics.
“Students don’t come toUCF for SGA or events likethis, they come to UCF,first and foremost, for aneducation, so that’s why wemade this the first priorityof our platform,” Gurneysaid.
If elected, Gurney andGonzales said they wouldlike to implement theirown library project thatwould expand study spaceand make the library more

It’s “Week of the Women,” butthe National Organization forWomen at UCF is hosting anevent on the night of March 24that they hope everyone, not justwomen, will participate in.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., startingin front of Millican Hall, NOW atUCF will host “Take Back theNight,” a march through thebreezeway to the Student Union’spatio stage, travel around theUnion and head back to MillicanHall through the breezeway.
Vice president of NOW at UCFKelly Quintero said they’ll bechanting as they march, lettingpeople know that they’re there totake back the night and stand upagainst violence against people.
“For us it’s a really big eventbecause we want to make surethat students at UCF know thatthere are resources available tothem,” Quintero said.
The event will feature speak-ers, survivors — one of whom wason Oprah—acoustic performanc-es, spoken word and informationregarding resources for victims.

For most 10-year-olds,college is a concept thatseldom crosses theirminds. The fifth-graderswho attended the Achievea College Education DayMarch 21, however, seeuniversity life as a far-away, yet attainable goal.
Hosted by the BurnettHonors College and spon-sored by WORKFORCECentral Florida, the ACEevent allowed more than500 students from fiveOrange County public ele-mentary schools to spenda day at UCF, tour thecampus and participate invarious hands-on activi-
ties.“We want them to
understand that they cancome to college and studyall different types ofthings,” said Kelly Astro,director of Research andCivic Engagement at theBurnett Honors Collegeand ACE coordinator.“The focus of this event ison STEM — science, tech-nology, engineering andmath — but we want themto walk away knowing thatthey can study whatever itis they want.”
Students were splitinto large groups withnames like “Discovery”and “Pride,” each of whichwere assigned volunteersfrom the Burnett Honors
College and the LEADScholars program.
Mickey Kmietowicz, asenior molecular andmicrobiology major andBurnett Honors Collegestudent, said he sees thisevent as positive rein-forcement for the kids.
“It’s fun to see themcome here for a day andsee what a day in our life islike; walking around cam-pus, showing them wherethe classes are,” Kmietow-icz said. “For many ofthem this is the first timethey’ve even heard aboutcollege.”
