• Point n’ shoot• 1st Amateur Camera• You view through the viewfinder/camera views

through the lens• Parallax problem, must adjust framing• Aperture limited, 3 stops, no controls, set

aperture, focus and shutter speed• Zoom lens with auto focus• Disposable Camera

• View Camera

• Twin Lens Reflex

• Single Lens Reflex (SLR)

Characteristics of a View Camera

• Bellows adjust distortion• 1st camera invented• Used by professionals• Easy to frame• Picture shows up upside down• Must use a tripod• You see through the camera lens• Takes 1 shot at a time• Exchange lenses• Uses large and medium format film

Characteristics of a TLR

• TLR=Twin Lens Reflex• Professional use, lighter weight• Medium Format Film• You see through one lens, the camera

sees through the other• Parallax problem• Portrait photography for sharper printing

Characteristics of an SLR

• SLR=Single Lens Reflex• Professional and Amateur use• Mirrors allow you to see through the

camera lens• Exchangeable lenses• Light weight and small format roll film• You control aperture, focus, film speed

and shutter speed

• Panorama: wide views, lens swings in an arc or wide angle lens
