Lucy Bonnerjea, Department of Health Lucy Bonnerjea works for the Department of Health and is the lead on the review of No Secrets. She previously worked on the development of the
Mental Capacity Act, taking the Bill through Parliament and she remains the policy lead on the MCA.
This presentation will discuss the findings from
the No Secrets Consultation that thegovernment has carried out and will identifysome of the challenges.

2.00 PERSONALISATION AND SAFEGUARDING – TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN?
Daniel Blake, Policy Development ManagerAction on Elder Abuse.Daniel Blake has worked for Action on Elder Abuse since 2004. He has strategic responsibility for the elder abuse response helpline, as well as leading for the organisation on criminal justice work, older people and domestic violence and working with care providers.
This presentation will look at how safeguardingshould be seen as fundamentally linked to thetransformation and personalisation agenda.It will argue that choice, control and safety areall sides of the same coin, whilst questioningcurrent government strategy that is based on anarrow interpretation of personalisation withlimited safeguards and the creation of anunregulated workforce.

3.00 SAFEGUARDING VULNERABLE ADULTS – MULTI AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES
John Curry, Managing Director, John Curry Associates Limited John has a thirty five year Police career. His Principle role was as a Detective, undertaking and supervising major criminal investigations and managing specialised crime investigation teams.
In August 2008 he established his own consultancy company carrying out various aspects of safeguarding reviews and developments. John was the Safeguarding Adults Board Manager for Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire 2001 to 2009
The presentation will focus on how we can
work together more effectively to safeguardvulnerable adults.
3.30 CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST WORKING INPARTNERSHIP TO SAFEGUARD ADULTS
Juliet Walters, Director of Operations Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

will integrate Safeguarding, Mental CapacityAct and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards into
its processes.
